Synopsis
Due to his illegal activities, Anjali Gujral separates from Mahendra Pratap Gujral, and marries Dr. Malhotra. She does bring up her son, Dev from her first marriage, who grows up to become a Police Officer. Years later, on the tracks of Gujral, Dev, and his close colleague, Komal come across Suraj Singh, and find out that he is indeed Gujral. At this point Gujral decides to play on Dev's emotions by reminding of his past affection for him, and blaming his entire criminal career on a politician, Rajvansh Shashtri. Dev must now decide to go after Shastri, or disbelieve his father altogether.Acteurs

The film is the story of Govind Narang (Sunil Shetty), an honest and chivalrous man from a small village in Punjab. He falls in love with Sudha (Sushmita Sen), but marries Masterji's daughter, Pushpa (Suman Ranganathan), to save her from public ridicule. Pushpa was impregnated by a police officer who refuses to marry her. She does not love Govind and hates Sudha with a passion. Together with her brother, Laxman (Sharad Kapoor), Pushpa tries to expel Sudha from of the village, but is unsuccessful. When Laxman finds out about Pushpa's infidelity, he poisons her. After his wife's death, Govind relocates to Mumbai with his sister, Ratna (Shraddha Nigam). He meets beautiful Gitika (Namrata Shirodkar) and they fall in love. One day, as Govind defends the honor of a young girl from the brother of a hoodlum, Johnny Handsome (Sharat Saxena), he generates hatred and animosity. Johnny is humiliated by Govind and swears vengeance with the help of Sadanand Kutty (Gulshan Grover) and Karim Khan Toofani (Govind Namdeo). On the other hand, Govind befriends Ram Sevak (Alok Nath), and with his help and assistance of a landowner arranges the purchase of a large plot of land so that hawkers and small shop-owners could set up their businesses. But nothing goes according to plan. The plot of land and the owner turn out to be fake, Ram Sevak turns out to be in hand with the gangsters, and Govind gets all the blame; His sister is openly raped, and Govind himself gets seriously wounded, in broad daylight before the very eyes of the people he defended. Govind is then helped by Sudha, and he decides to teach everyone a lesson. He files an FIR against everyone in the neighbourhood who witnessed what happened to his sister except the culprits themseleves. When they are brought to court, he condemns everyone for their attitude, and then tells them to be brave and fight goondaism. Encouraged by this, the entire neighborhood decides to take on the gang. They attack the gangsters with bottles when they come to threaten them in the locality, and then move on to Johnny handsome's office, breaking everything and attacking all the goons. In join Govind and Sudha to attack the gangsters and arrest them. The criminals are sentenced and everything returns to normal. In the end, though on a happy note, Govind's sister marries a close friend of the family, and Govind agrees to marry Sudha.

Judge Pratap Sinha (Jeetendra) is a renowned judge who does not pass judgement by sitting down on the judge's chair but he himself investigates and bring the criminals to their fate. This worshiped of law has a wife Sujata (Sujata Mehta) who is a very famous lawyer. He also has a sister Ashwini (Ashwini Bhave) who is a brave police officer. The city's Mafia Don D.V.M's (Kiran Kumar) brother Jaggi commits a gruesome murder of a lady journalist Bharti. He is arrested and tried by judge Pratap Sinha who passes a death sentence on Jaggi. One day while judge Pratap was going to the court he sees Sunil (Sunil Shetty) stabbing one man to death. With Pratap as witness he tells Ashwini to arrest Sunil, who gets shocked because Sunil is her lover. The court sentences Sunil to death. In jail Sunil meets notorious criminal Mangal (Mukesh Khanna), who is Pratap Sinha's enemy. Before Sunil is hanged, D.V.M. tells judge Pratap that Sunil is innocent and that D.V.M. himself had trapped Sunil. Judge Pratap is stunned as if a lightening had struck him. To save the respect of the law Pratap has to break the law. He runs away with Sunil from jail. Behind judge Pratap and criminal Sunil, are the full police force from one side and on the other is D.V.M's henchmen. Did Sunil prove his innocence? What happened to D.

Sunil Shrivastava (Sunil Shetty), is the son of a freedom fighter (Pran), who fought against the British regime for Indian independence. His father knew what slavery meant and also made him understand the same. He believed that, "It was better to die than to live as coward". With such intention Sunil comes to bombay from Allahabad to study law, so that he can fight for the justice of the people. But he soon realizes that the law in the city favours the powerful people and the weaker section of the society are the losers. Not being a coward, Sunil decides to take on the system, be it all-alone, and fight them on his own terms. A saviour called "Ek Hindustani" is born which is the name given by the people to Sunil. Suddenly there is revolution in the air. Every child around wants to become "Ek Hindustani" and wants to live without fear.
