Baghini is a 1968 Bengali film directed by Bijay Bose. Soumitra Chatterjee stars as the main hero, Chiranjib, and Sandhya Roy plays the film's heroine, Dugga.
Jahar Ganguly plays Dugga's father, a liquor merchant; Rabi Ghosh plays Bhola, a villain. In the end, Bhola is killed by Dugga. She marries Chiranjib before going to jail.

The story is as Ranjan went to jail against a false allegation. His father became mad and roamed in the streets. His uncle Sanatan made a conspiracy and as a result, all these accidents happened. After sixteen years, he came back and saw the changes. He hid his identity and rescued local villagers from the exploitations of the zamindar. As a result, villagers helped him and saved him from different crisis. In this way within few days, he became very popular among his neighbors. Sanatan came to know about this person from his people, but could not identify him. He put his every effort to trace Ranjan and put him in a false position. Villagers and well-wishers helped him a lot and saved in different occasions. After a lot of incidents, Ranjan punished his uncle Sanatan and reunited with his father.

Jibananda is a drunkard zamindar. Ekkari is his companion in all his sinful deeds and greed for money. Sorashi is the priestess in the local Chandi temple and the ex-wife of Jibananda. She is adamant and responsible, but stubborn and honest. She has immense influence in certain sections of local society. When he was young, he married her. Then she was known as Alaka. During extreme debanchery and toture Jibananda realised Sorashi is actually her ex-wife Alaka. Aalka also identifies Jibananda. Sorashi was forced to stay whole night in the drunk Jibananda's house. It created a ripple amongst the local villagers when they come to know about this incidence. But Sorashi gave a legal statement to the police and magistate that she went to the zamindar's house villingly. Jibananda was freed from all offences due to this statement. But the village leaders were very strict to their decision. Sanbeswar Shiromani Mr Chowdhury, Janardan Bapu decided not to asssign the responsibility of a priestess of the temple to Sorashi any more. Nirmal, son-in-law of Sabeswar Shiromani, is very impressed by the attitude and intelligence of Sorashi. Probably he is in love with her. Nirmal's wife understands Nirmal's intention through she has a high regard for Sorashi also. In the meantime for no reason Jibananda goes against Sorashi. He wants to get near her. But as Sorashi opposes this Jibananda gets angry and tries to evict her from her shelter. Sagan and his team wait for Sorashi's order to fight against jibananda. But Sorashi is totally dispassionate. She leaves the temple. But the end mightly Jibananda realises his faulto and surrenders to Sorashi.

Chowdry Sarang is a proud man and arrogant powerful zamindar (landlord) who refuses to let people garland him as he believes that a man should never bow his head. Young Krishna is driven out of the house by his uncle Sajhan (Paresh Rawal) after his father Narayan Srivastav dies. Krishna goes to live with his school-teacher Saraswati Devi (Raakhee), who has two children, Suraj & Jyoti, of her own. Sajhan's tactics separates Suraj from his family, and assuming he is dead Saraswati looks after Krishna and Jyoti. Time flies and Krishna(now played by Anil Kapoor) falls in love with his college friend Madhu (Madhuri Dixit). Sajhan's son Raghu (Tej Sapru) turns to become a local goonda, protected by his dad by bribing the local police. Jyoti is raped and murdered by Raghu and his pals, and they also run over Saraswati rendering her crippled. Both Krishna and Saraswati swear to avenge Jyoti's death. Then Suraj (Mohsin Khan) re-enters their lives, as a police inspector, and is bent on arresting Krishna by hook or by crook, casting doubts whether he is or not on the pay-roll of Sajhan.

Un ennemi du peuple est une adaptation de la pièce d'Ibsen du même nom. Le docteur Ashoke Gupta (Soumitra Chatterjee) s’aperçoit que les cas de jaunisse sont en augmentation dans sa ville de Chandipur. Il fait faire des analyses, qui montrent que la maladie se répand par l’eau bénite distribuée dans le temple de la ville. Or le temple fait venir de nombreux pèlerins à Chandipur et est au cœur de l’économie de la ville. Le fondateur du temple ne veut pas admettre que de l’eau sacrée puisse contenir des bactéries dangereuses. Lorsque le docteur Gupta décide de publier ses découvertes dans le journal local, le maire de la ville, qui n’est autre que son propre frère, s'y oppose puis cherche à le discréditer en mettant en avant le fait qu’il n’est pas un hindou pratiquant.
