While in Germany, gorgeous looking Rita, who belongs to a gang of thieves, cons a jeweler into parting with a very expensive necklace, and is on the run from the police. She hitches a ride from ace Grand Prix racer, Ram Khanna, and plants the necklace on his person. He later graciously returns the necklace to her, and she in turns it in to her gang-leader. When the gang-leader has the necklace appraised it turns out to be a fake, and Rita is now on the run from her own gang. She again takes shelter with Ram, tells him the truth and that her real name is Meena. Ram wins the Grand Prix, and both return to India. Upon their entry at the airport, they are searched, and Ram is found to be in possession of diamonds hidden in medicinal capsules. He is immediately arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. Years later he is released, and finds Meena awaiting. Both get married and decide to settle down and live life honestly. But trouble comes knocking on their door again - this time it's Ram's brother, Harnam, who wants Ram to join him in smuggling. Ram, initially refuses, but when Meena is abducted, he relents and joins his brother in a career of crime - a change that will have disastrous results for Meena and himself.

Gulu Lala lives a middle-classed lifestyle along with his parents in Chinchpokli, Bombay. Rajesh is a scientist. He is injured following instructions of Dr Sharma in a secret experiment & granted leave. Rajesh lives with his dog, cook Bhola and loves Rita. Rajesh goes to meet Rita & asks for her hand from her mother who agrees. He finds his things spread on bed on returning to his hotel room. Shetty fools Bhola & takes pictures of Rajesh's house. Sharma calls him during his leave. He meets Sharma but is surprised to know that Sharma did not call him. He & Sharma quarrel when he asks for leave to marry. Rajesh reaches office on being called by Sharma but finds him murdered. Rajesh goes to call the police & returns with them to find the body missing. Intelligence chief Mr Roy & his assistant Mr D'Mello ask Rajesh to take the murder blame of Sharma so that miscreants after Sharma's research can be caught. Roy devises an escape plan for Rajesh but it goes wrong & Rajesh is kidnapped by Shetty and taken to Mozambique. Rajesh is imprisoned and a look alike named Garson is sent to India. Garson is with blue eyes and a voice different from Rajesh's. Garson uses contact lenses and gets a neck cut to portray lost voice. His unconscious body is found in an Indian sea. Rita accepts him as Rajesh although she has some misgivings after he touches the feet of another lady instead of Rita's mother. Rita is pregnant with Rajesh's baby. Garson is given a similar mole as Rajesh. Rajesh's dog and cook realise what has happened, so Garson kills them to avoid their exposing him. The authorities are also less trusting. Rest needs to be seen.

Rajesh (Feroz Khan) was a motorcycle stuntman in a circus and is now a thief, expert in breaking open treasuries. In one such robbery, he is being watched by a jolly but shrewd police inspector Amjad Khan (Amjad Khan). Sheela (Zeenat Aman) is a gorgeous disco club dancer and singer. Rajesh and Sheela are in love. Rajesh has not disclosed to Sheela that he is a thief. An evil brother-sister duo- Vikram (Shakti Kapoor) and Jwaala (Aruna Irani) seek revenge against crime boss Rakka (Amrish Puri) who cheated Jwaala and siphoned her money. They hire Rajesh to break open Rakka's treasury and steal back the money. Vikram pays Rajesh a token amount to do the job. But suddenly Inspector Amjad Khan arrests Rajesh and the court sentences Rajesh to two years imprisonment. Sheela is devastated after she realizes Rajesh was a thief.
