Chanti is a 1992 Telugu drama film, a remake version of Tamil film Chinna Thambi. directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty and produced by K. S. Rama Rao on Creative Commercials. The film stars Venkatesh and Meena in pivotal roles, with original soundtrack was composed by Illayaraja. The movie was again remade in Hindi as Anari (1993) with Venkatesh and Karishma Kapoor in lead roles. The Telugu film was a musical blockbuster.
The film was the first film to cross 100 days in more than 40 direct centers that was an industry record that time.
Synopsis
The story begins starts with the birth of a baby girl, Nandini, in the world of feudal landlords (Zamindars) whose word is a law for the villagers who work on their land. Nandini's three brothers throw a feast in honor of the girl child. The young son of the local singer (who had died) is brought in to sing for the event. The three brothers raise Nandini like their own child as their parents had died. At the age of 5, an astrologer predicts that Nandini will bring much happiness to the family, but her marriage will be based on her choice and not the choice of her brothers. This angers the brothers and to prevent this from happening, she is raised within the confines of the house.She is home schooled and when she does go out, all the men are warned to hide from Nandini and that seeing Nandini will be met with dire consequences.Acteurs

Venkateswarlu (Venkatesh) arrive at the town and gets appointed as a Telugu lecturer in the junior college where he completed his education. He is fooled by the students headed by a brilliant but mischievous student Roja (Aparna). Venteswarulu is irritated by her indiscipline and finds fault for whatever she does. But this does not stop Roja to crack pranks on him. Thukaram (Brahmanandam) classmate of Venkateswarlu who is still studying as a student for so long years and some other students create a fake love letter on the name of Roja and keeps it in Venkateswarlu's desk. Venkateswarlu misunderstands that, it is also one of the pranks of Roja and warns her and gives the letter to her. But Roja considers that he wrote the love letter and falls in love with him. Roja's classmates repeat the mischief again and again and Venkateswarlu misunderstands it as Roja's mischief and complaints to Principal (Kota Srinivasa Rao) because of which Roja is suspended without any chance to defend herself.

Dora Babu (Venkatesh), the only child of a multi-millionaire Venkatraidu (Nutan Prasad) who can provide his son with anything he wants, but he loves his mother who ends up dying and his only desire is mother's love. Venkata Ramana (Daggubati Venkatesh) a.k.a Venky is a ventriloquist. An astrologer (M. S. Narayana) predicts that if he does not get married in one year, he will be a single man forever. He goes to Paris to show his talent to the company of Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam). Paris Prasad fools everyone and he was given a loan from a bank. But he has not repaid the loan to the bank. Venky befriends Sheikh Raj (Ali). Venky also falls in love with Pooja (Trisha Krishnan), the niece of Paris Prasad. Pooja has no feelings for Venky, but Paris Prasad tells Venky that Pooja too loves him and fools him. Slowly Pooja and Venky become friends. Pooja goes back to India and finds that her marriage has been arranged with Bhadrappa (Subbaraju), the son of her uncle, Changala Rayudu (Mukesh Rishi). Venky asks Paris Prasad for help. Prasad comes with Venky to save Pooja by telling him that Pooja loves him and wants to break the marriage. But Pooja loves an NRI named Rahul. There Venky introduces himself to everyone as Pranit and makes fools of them by giving the partnership of his factory's benefit. One day when Venky with Prasad and Pooja runs away, Bhaddrapa's uncle (Jaya Prakash Reddy) comes to know everything. He tells everyone this. Then Venky goes to his village along with Prasad, Rahul and Pooja. He introduces his family, his uncles, Narayana (Chandra Mohan) and Malesh Yadav (Kota Srinivasa Rao). After that Bhaddrapa's grandfather hatches a plan in which Venky will come with Pooja and they will kill him. But Venky ends up coming with his full family, so they could not kill him. But after coming here, Venky comes to know that Pooja loves Rahul. When Pooja's uncle attacks them, Venky saves everybody. Pooja realizes she loves Venky. Paris Prasad also realizes his mistake and gets Venky and Pooja married. After the marriage, Prasad asks Venky to give him money with which he can repay the bank loan. But Venky laughs after hearing this.

Manikkam (Vijayakanth) is released from jail in Singapore for an accident committed by his friend Chandru. Manikkam has to leave Singapore. In the boat in destination to India, he saves an old industrialist Damodaran (M. N. Nambiar) from rowdies. Damodaran hires Manikkam in his factory . Priya (Bhanupriya), a very arrogant girl, hates Manikkam and lives with her grandfather Damodaran. She has a twin sister Saradha who lived with her mother Subha (Manjula Vijayakumar) in Singapore. Priya and Manikkam get married. She continues to hate him but she changes her behaviour. The doctor reveals to Manikkam that his wife is sterile and Manikkam changes the report. Priya decides to hate more and more Manikkam because she thinks that he is sterile. Priya runs away to Singapore. Priya and Saradha exchange their life for few days. The rest of the story is about what happens to Manikkam, Priya and Saradha.

Karthik is a rich post graduate from ISB who completes his studies and comes back to India after a world tour. One fine day, he spots Nandana and falls head over heels for her. However Nandana develops hatred for Karthik because of few circumstances. When Karthik proposes to her, she rejects him point blank. Karthik's maternal uncle Pandu returns from Dubai and because of his hatred towards Karthik, he plans to take revenge by letting Karthik's parents arrange a bride for marriage against his wishes. The bride accidentally turns out to be Nandana and Karthik accepts to marry her. She is not interested but she can't oppose her father because of her love towards her father. When she tries to reject the marriage, both of their parents complete the procedures and they are pronounced engaged.

Rajakumaran (Prabhu) is the son of the village chief (Vijayakumar). Yuvaraj (Nassar) hates Rajakumaran and his village. Selvi (Meena Durairaj) and Vaidehi (Nadhiya) are in love with their cousin Rajakumaran but he chooses Vaidehi. Selvi decides to sacrifice her love, her father Selvaraj (Captain Raju) refuses to give his property to village people as promised and his only request is that Rajakumaran gets married with Selvi. Selvi convinced Rajakumaran to lie, he lies to her father and he gives his property. Vaidehi committed suicide and Rajakumaran reveals his lie. One day, some goons decide to put a bomb and Rajakumaran saves the village. The village thinks that the culprit was Thangaraj (Thyagu) because he wanted to revenge Rajakumaran after his lie. Angry, Thangaraj insults Rajakumaran's father in public and Rajakumaran's father died. Yuvaraj asks to Selvaraj and Thangaraj to marry Selvi, and they accept. The village was against the marriage. A man (R. V. Udayakumar) came and said that a deaf-mute girl, who learnt to read and to write, was the witness of Vaidehi's murder by Yuvaraj. On the marriage day, Yuvaraj cancelled the marriage and decided to humiliate Selvi. Rajakumaran saves her and he decides to marry her.

The film begins with election campaigning in Bobbili Village. Sundaraiyah (Gummadi) and Rajeswari Devi (Vanisree) are strong opponents in elections. Rajeswari Devi and her elder brother Ahobala Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao) plays a lot of tactics to win the elections. But their younger brother Suryam (Vidya Sagar) supports Sundaraiyah and also loves his daughter Rajyalakshmi (Sumitra) and she becomes pregnant. Everybody dishonors her and Ahobala Rao wants to take an advantage of the situation in the election campaign. When Suryam decides to reveal the truth to everyone, Ahobala Rao tries to stop him, in that quarrel Suryam dies accidentally. Ahobala Rao plays a game and keeps the blame on Sundaraiyah & Rajyalakshmi, both of them are arrested, but somehow they escape from jail and reaches a forest.
