Rajesh (Feroz Khan) was a motorcycle stuntman in a circus and is now a thief, expert in breaking open treasuries. In one such robbery, he is being watched by a jolly but shrewd police inspector Amjad Khan (Amjad Khan). Sheela (Zeenat Aman) is a gorgeous disco club dancer and singer. Rajesh and Sheela are in love. Rajesh has not disclosed to Sheela that he is a thief. An evil brother-sister duo- Vikram (Shakti Kapoor) and Jwaala (Aruna Irani) seek revenge against crime boss Rakka (Amrish Puri) who cheated Jwaala and siphoned her money. They hire Rajesh to break open Rakka's treasury and steal back the money. Vikram pays Rajesh a token amount to do the job. But suddenly Inspector Amjad Khan arrests Rajesh and the court sentences Rajesh to two years imprisonment. Sheela is devastated after she realizes Rajesh was a thief.

Gangadhar Choudhary rules a small community in rural India with an iron hand, and will never permit anyone to speak up against him. He owns most of the land surrounding his palatial home - save for the small patch of land owned by Veer Singh. He summons Veer to his house, and offers him substantial compensation for his land, but Veer refuses, and the Gangadhar has him killed. Veer's widow dies of shock, leaving behind a young Suraj to be brought up by a kindly widow Mrs. Salma Khan, who is also the mother of Iqbal. Ordered to stay away from Delhi's border for several years, two convicts, Kishan and Kanhaiya, decide to hitch a ride through a goods train to Bombay. While on this train, they come to the rescue of an elderly male with a female child, Munni. On his last breath, the elderly male asks them to take care of Munni as millions of rupees are involved. Greed overtakes both and they take the child with them in order to locate her next of kin. Unable to find anyone they advertise in the newspapers, and demand a hefty sum from Veer Singh, who answered the advertisement. Kishan and Kanhaiya find themselves immersed in a web of lies and deceit as they try to fathom what the truth really is. But before they could get to the bottom of this matter, their lives themselves are under threat - by a man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

À la suite du décès de son mari, Sharda (Priya Tendulkar) épouse le gouverneur Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar). Son fils aîné, Sahil (Bobby Deol) ne l'apprécie pas. Lors d'un anniversaire il menace son beau-père avec un couteau devant tous les invités. Le lendemain, il découvre son père tué par la même arme et il est arrêté sur le lieu du crime. Au tribunal, tous les proches de son père, le médecin de famille, l'avocat et même sa propre mère témoignent contre lui ; il est déclaré coupable et est condamné à 14 ans de prison. Quelques jours après son arrivée en prison, il s'évade et une chasse à l'homme est organisée, dirigée par l'inspecteur Udham Singh (Om Puri). Toutes les personnes qui avaient témoigné contre lui sont hospitalisées les unes après les autres et le docteur Gandhi (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) est assassiné. Tout en incitant Mantri (Prem Chopra) à lui avouer la vérité, Sahil apprend qu'Udham Singh croit avoir arrêté le véritable assassin et obtenu ses aveux. Peu après, Sahil retourne chez lui et sa mère le pardonne. Mais le cauchemar reprend quand Udham Singh est poignardé et personne ne connaît alors l'identité du vrai tueur.
