The story begins with Col. Krishnakant and his ten men who were sacked from the Indian army as they failed in the China Gate mission. After witnessing the brutal slaying of her Forest Officer father, Sunder Rajan, at the hands of dreaded dacoit Jageera, Sandhya goes to Col. and asks for his assistance in bringing an end to Jageera's rule in the Devdurg region. Krishnakant agrees to assist her and summons ten of his fellow officers and subordinates to assist him in this mission. They assemble at Devdurg with the necessary ammunitions and arms to combat Jageera, not realizing that Jageera has influence over the local police detachment, who will prevent Krishnakant and his men to possess any guns and weapons. This does not deter the men, and they continue to stay on in Devdurg and gain the confidence of the villagers. The story revolves around a train journey in Howrah-Bombay Mail. Three Bollywood-stricken, Nagpur-based slackers, Vijay Verma, Bingo Nagpurkar, and Khoka Ganguli, board the Howrah-Bombay Mail, to head to Bombay to watch a cricket match, and to meet Bollywood megastar Mithun Chakraborty. During this trip, they drink a lot of alcohol. Vijay notices that the people in the next room in his train coach, are a couple with an attractive young woman. He goes over to introduce himself, and finds that the man calls himself Mr. C.K. Kadam, and the young woman's name is Manjula. Vijay wants to change his seat, so that he can near Manjula, but unfortunately that seat is taken up by a young man, Pankaj Nigam. Vijay attempts to forcibly take the seat from Pankay, and a fight ensues, and Vijay is asked to leave them alone. During a stopover, Pankaj leaves the train, and when the train starts, Mr. Kadam finds that Manjula has been killed. The police begin their investigation, and they have two suspects namely, Pankaj Nigam, and Vijay Verma. They also find out that Pankaj is not who he claims to be, and that his real name is Sanjay Chopra. Further investigations prove that neither Vijay nor Pankaj could have possibly murdered Manjula, leaving the police, Vijay and his friends on one hand, and Sanjay Chopra, to hunt for the third suspect, the one who actually killed Manjula, and the one who may also kill anyone who stands in his/her way. Deux photographes professionnels sans clients, Vinod Chopra (Naseeruddin Shah) et Sudhir Mishra (Ravi Baswani) se voient confier un reportage par l'éditrice du magazine «Khabardar», Shoba Sen. Il s'agit d'enquêter sur les accords illégaux conclus entre un entrepreneur immobilier, Tarneja, et un fonctionnaire municipal, D'Mello (Satish Shah), et impliquant également un deuxième entrepreneur, l'ivrogne Ahuja (Om Puri). Alors qu'ils développent d'autres photos, Vinod et Sudhir s'aperçoivent que l'une d'entre elles montre, à l'arrière plan, Tarneja en train de tirer sur quelqu'un. Ils retournent dans le parc où ils ont pris cette photo et trouve le cadavre de la victime, D'Mello. Mais ce dernier disparaît mystérieusement, ne laissant sur place qu'un bouton de manchette en or. Ils découvrent l'autre bouton de la paire un peu plus tard, lors de l'inauguration d'un pont dédié au défunt D'Mello, censé être mort de maladie. De nuit, Sudhir et Vinod déterre le cercueil contenant le corps de D'Mello, qui était enterré à proximité du pont. Ils prennent des photos du corps dans le but de prouver la culpabilité de Tarneja, avant que le cadavre disparaisse une fois de plus, et arrive accidentellement en la possession d'Ahuja. Lorsque Sudhir et Vinod s'aperçoivent que c'est Ahuja qui a le corps, ils en informent Shoba Sen, qui décide de faire chanter Ahuja. Celui-ci tente alors de faire assassiner Shoba Sen et les deux photographes. Sudhir et Vinod s'aperçoivent enfin que Shoba Sen cherche plus à s'enrichir qu'à faire éclater la vérité, et s'emparent du cadavre. Il s'ensuit une course poursuite à travers Bombay au cours de laquelle Sudhir, Vinod ainsi que Shoba et Ahuja qui les poursuivent sont amenés à se dissimuler (ainsi que le cadavre) sous des burqas. Tous les personnages finissent par faire irruption au milieu d'une représentation d'un épisode du Mahabharata et se font passer pour les acteurs. Le cadavre est quant à lui déguisé pour passer pour Draupadi. Lorsque finalement la police intervient Sudhir et Vinod révèlent toute l'affaire, mais ce sont finalement eux qui sont envoyés en prison.
