Sanjeev (Jayaram) is a police officer who lives with his widowed father and two younger sisters, after death of his mother. Nakshathrakkannulla Rajakumaran Avanundoru Rajakumari revolves around a family that claims that they are the descendants of the brave chekavars, who were the warriors of the Vadakkanpaattu. Bhageerathi Amma (K.R.Vijaya) has two sons, Veerabhadra Kurup (Narendra Prasad) and Kochchukurup (Kalabhavan Mani), and a daughter Subhadra (Sicily), who constantly feud with each other. The elder Kurup’s daughter Aswathy (Gayathri Raghuram) is in love with her muracherukkan, Subhadra’s son Ananthu (Prithviraj), but their parents object to the match. They are encouraged by Chandutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), Bhaskaran (Tharikida Sabu) and Shankunni (Baiju). They hope that Aswathy’s brother Karthik (Renju) will come to their rescue. But he turns against the lovers on the advice of his father. Suddenly, Raziya Begum (Anjali Krishna) turns up, claiming to be Karthik’s lover. Ananthu and his gang use this opportunity to fix Karthik, and Kochukurup gives them a lot of muscle support. After a lot of buffoonery and mistaken identity, the couple are united. The movie was the debut of Actor 'Prithviraj'. This film is a box office disaster.

Sachidanandan (Dileep) runs an antique shop in the Jewish street at Kochi. He is famous for old Gramophone records. Jennifer (Meera Jasmine), Pattu Set (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), ‘Saigal’ Yousuf and Tabla Bhaskaran (Salim Kumar) are Sachi's fathers close friends. Sachi’s father was Raveendranathan (Murali) who was a great music director who died leaving him with a lot of musical instruments and some gramophone records. Sachi hates music, as he believes that his father has not made any money out of it. Kunjunni's (Vishwanathan) parents separate soon after his birth, and he's left to be cared by his mother, void of paternal care and affection. He is brought up by his mother with the help of his grandmother, an estimate manager and his friend Meenakshi (Mini Nair), the daughter of a maid servant working in Kunjunni's house. Inspired by his Uncle (Narendra Prasad), who was initially a Gandhian, and eventually a Marxist, Kunjunni finds himself drawn to left-wing ideologies during his studies at college, believing that communism is the answer to heal all social hardships and inequalities. Eventually he joins an extremist Marxist group, and his affairs land him in trouble. After an attack at a police station, Kunjunni is arrested and taken to court, but later acquitted of all charges.

Nandakumar (Saikumar), a business tycoon in Bangalore, faces huge financial loss when his manager Abey Mathew decides to broker a deal with an Australian group and another rival Indian firm. He calls up Jagannadhan (Mohanlal), alias Jagan, his close buddy and business partner asking him to intervene. Jagan lands up at the office of Abey and forces him to withdraw from brokering the deal with the Australian company, there by bringing massive profit to Nandan. In return, Nandan is profuse in his offer of compensation to Jagan, all of which he humbly disavows. Jagan finally demands Nandan a small favor. He wants Nandan to purchase an old palace at Kanimangalam, a village in Kerala, to which Nandan agrees. Jagan also expresses his desire that the palace should be bought in the name of Nandan, and Jagan should be there as a benami of him. Jagannadhan reaches down at Kanimangalam for the registration of the palace and the property surrounding it. Meanwhile, Kulappully Appan Thamburan (Narendra Prasad), a feudal landlord with vested interests, opposes the purchase of the land. Appan's sister was married to Dathan Thampuran of Kanimangalam palace, who deserted her one day. The extreme hatred towards Kanimangalam had made Appan to even stop the annual temple festival, which according to the villagers has resulted in the anger of Goddess Kali, the local deity. Now, with the arrival of Jagannathan, Appan is back again creating troubles. But Jagannathan successfully overcomes it and gets the palace registered. Presently the palace is occupied by Krishna Varma (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), an old musician, and Unnimaya (Manju Warrier), his foster daughter. Unnimaya is believed to be the daughter of Dathan Thampuran, but is disowned by the rest of his family members. Though, now in the hands of Jagan, he allows Varma and Unnimaya to stay in the palace. Though, initially, both Varma and Unnimaya felt uncomfortable in staying with Jagan, slowly, they develop an affection towards him.

Bobby (Jayasurya) who is really poor and can't speak, earns living by painting billboards for his boss (Cochin Haneefa) along with his friends, falls in love at first sight with Gopika, while painting. Gopika was told he could speak and lost her love. In the end she gets to know Bobby really can't speak and she and Bobby fall in love. But she is supposed to marry Shyam (Indrajith),a rich and modern young man, who she hates. Gopika's family are against her relationship with Bobby so they elope.

Subhash Chandra Bose aka Kochu Kurup heard a phone call by a teenage girl named Padmaja 'Pappi' Warrier and soon falls in love with her. But his parents send him to Bangalore to his best friend Kartik aka Aniyankutty (Dileep), who is a rich womanizer. Aniyankutty also falls in love with Pappi, but he does not disclose this to Kochu Kurup. Kochu Kurup's father brings a marriage alliance to him, but he says that he is not interested, not knowing that the alliance was with Pappi herself. However, Kartik gets to know this, and he helps Kochu Kurup to cancel the wedding since he has an eye on her.
