Hero is a Telugu film (dubbed in Malayalam as Police Academy) directed by G. V. Sudhakar Naidu and starring Nitin, Bhavana, Ramya Krishna, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmanandam, Nagendra Babu and others. Produced by Manyam Ramesh, and music composed Mani Sharma. It was released on 24 October 2008 to mixed reviews.

Synopsis

Nagendra Naidu (Nagendra Babu) is a powerful police officer. He wants to see his son Radhakrishna (Nitin) also as a good police officer. He always dreams of his son bashing the dons and get a state government's medal which should be presented through his hands. However, his wife Sarala (Kovai Sarala) wants to see her son as a super star. Then a peculiar GO gets passed by which any honest person is eligible for a Police job. As Nagendra Naidu convinces his wife that all the training that is needed for a film hero could be learnt in just three months time in the Police Academy, Sarala agrees to join him in the Police Academy. Radhakrishna falls in love with Krishnaveni (Bhavana) at the police academy. The latter too loses her heart to him. At this juncture, her photo appears in the TV saying that she was a big Naxalite leader. The actual story gets revealed with a small twist. Who created Krishnaveni as a Naxalite or did she really a Naxalite? What happened to the love between Radha and Krishna? How far, Radha was able to fulfil the dream of his father Nagendra Naidu? Answers to all these questions form part of the second half.

Chandra Shekhar aka Chandu (Nitin) is a daredevil youth and is a fearless boy. Once he comes across a beautiful girl Nandu (Hansika Motwani), daughter of a dreaded factionalist Peddi Reddy (Suman). Soon he loses his heart. He starts teasing her and wants to prove that he is sincerely loving Nandu. He tells Nandu that he could do anything for her. Then the latter tells him that he should not follow her until she calls him. In order to grab her attention, he sends his father (Chandramohan) and mother (Pragati) to express his love and let her know that they too encourage him instead of trying to divert his attention from love. Later Nandu realises that she too is truly loving him. At this juncture, Jayaprakash Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy) goes to Peddi Reddy for an alliance for his brother's son Veera Pratap Reddy (Saleem Baig). Peddi Reddy refuses to marry Nandu with Veera Pratap Reddy. This flares up the factionalism between the two. At a time when Nandu wants to express her love to Chandu, she is taken away by her father to their village. The climax deals as to how the two meet and how the success of their love turns up.

The film center's on a happily married couple,where husband believes money is the only thing important and not family ties, affections and respect for cultural or traditional values or marriage values. He married one nice traditional girl with Hindu moral values by tricking them for money. The husband runs into a wealthy unmarried business woman and teenager. The protagonist is convinced she is his wealth maker and lies to this wealthy business girl that he is married,but recently divorced. But his emotionally blackmailed, wife will not let him go out of the marriage and wants to teach him the marriage values and human values. But the greedy husband only interested in money and files for divorce in the court and the consequence's, lead to the frustrated wife, who wishes to invite, her family and friends for their divorce ceremony like a marriage ceremony. Finally husband realizes the importance, sanctity of the marriage and apologizes to the wife and requests her to be his wife again.

Vamsi (Gopichand) is the son of an affluent handloom house owner Muddu Krishna Rao (Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao). He happens to fall in love with a girl Bujji (Bhavana) who is an orphan and stays in a hostel. With the consent of his parents, Vamsi tries to get engaged with Bujji. But she was kidnapped by a group of gangsters. Bujji is attempted to molest by one of gangster brother (Ajay) who is roughed up by Vamsi. The gangster (Ashish Vidyarthi) vows to take revenge and on the day of Gopichand marriage with Bujji. He kidnaps and rapes her in front of the hero. All this mishap happens because of support of MLA {Rajiv Kanakala} who is the close friend of Vamsi as he is promised with minister berth by the gangster and stabs Vamsi. Vamsi arrives Hyderabad and tries to trace the gangsters. Because of his betrayal, Vamsi kills his MLA friend Raghava (Rajiv Kanakala). Later in the movie, Sayaji Shinde interviews Vamsi's parents and family members because Vamsi is in a state of hallucination and he didn't know until he told him. The cop Syyaji Shinde investigates the case though at the end he catches the hero but releases him and gives his support for killing gangsters. The hero kills Lal Mahankali (Asish Vidyarthi) and rips his brother's arm off. Vamsi's dad tells him that Bujji dies the day of the engagement because she jumped off a rock building.
