Kanna Talli or Kannatalli (English title: Mother; Telugu: కన్నతల్లి) is a 1953 Telugu Drama film directed and produced by K. S. Prakash Rao. It is simultaneously released in Tamil with title Petra Thai (Tamil: பெற்ற தாய்). G. Varalakshmi played the title role of the Mother (Telugu meaning of Talli). This is the debut film for Telugu popular singer P. Suseela and actress Rajasulochana. The film later made as Blockbuster Hindi film Mother India in 1957.

Karan Singh lives a wealthy lifestyle in a palace along with his widowed mother, an elder brother, Shamsher, his wife and daughter. His mother, Rani Maa, spending most of her time playing cards, left his upbringing to his nanny. As a result, Karan ended up believing her to be his real mother. Now grown up and turned into a womanizer and an alcoholic, he comes to the rescue of a former air hostess, Lata, who is being molested by her boss. Subsequently he hires her as his secretary and allows her family to move into one of his cottages. Progressively, Lata attempts to change his bad habits. She initially meets with opposition, but eventually succeeds and they fall in love. Karan even builds a palace and names it "Prem Nagar" ("city of love"). However, one day their romance is shattered when Lata is accused of interfering in palace affairs and stealing a valuable necklace. Consequently, a much humiliated Lata and her family move out.

Anand (Sivaji Ganesan) is a rich playboy and who loves alcohol. He has an older brother, Vijay (K. Balaji). Anand, who has been abroad, boards a plane home, on a shift that air stewardess, Latha (Vanisri), is working. After the plane lands, the scene changes to Latha's home where we meet her father (Major Sundarrajan), mother (Pandari Bai), two brothers, and a sister. Her elder brother resides at home with his wife, but being the eldest, Latha is the highest earning member of the family. A struggle begins when Latha's mother objects to her being an air hostess: She begs her to change profession so that she can be home at more decent hours.
