Kshatriya (Warriors) is a 1993 Bollywood film directed by J.P. Dutta. The film features an ensemble star cast including Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra, Meenakshi Seshadri, Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Raveena Tandon and Divya Bharti. The film has Sunil Dutt and Dharmendra playing fathers to their real-life sons Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol respectively. This is Divya Bharti's last film to be released while she was alive; she died 10 days after its release.

Synopsis

The film is about two warring royal Kshatriya Rajput families in Rajasthan, India, based in Mirtagarh and Surjangarh . The Mirtagarh family's head Bhavani Singh (Sunil Dutt) is killed by the Surjangarh family's head Prithvi Singh (Dharmendra), which causes a bloody feud between the two families spreading over two generations.

Avinash (Sanjay Dutt) and his parents (Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Asha Parekhich) come to Bombay where they miserably scrape along. Sometimes their acquaintance with Samiulla Khan (Rishi Kapoor), the younger brother of the underworld don Khushal Khan (Dharmendra), is quite helpful as Sami, who refuses to deal with his brother’s business, enjoys a good reputation. But after some bitter experiences, Avinash’s father cannot stand his poor situation anymore and commits suicide. Now Avinash bears the responsibility to be the family’s breadwinner which he, as he doesn’t manage to find a job, is unable to fulfill. Desperately (and instigated by his friends from the local gang) he starts stealing. After having killed one of his victims in affect, he more and more bogs down in the mire of crime – and gets into the rivalry between the gangster bosses Khushal Khan and Raghan Anna (Paresh Rawal).

Au printemps 1999, des islamistes soutenus par des soldats de l'armée pakistanaise franchissent la Ligne de contrôle (Line of Controle : LOC) qui sépare l'Inde du Pakistan, s'emparant des hauteurs qui surplombent Kargil. L'armée indienne envoie sur place plusieurs unités pour reconquérir le territoire perdu, mais les combattants pakistanais résistent et s'engage alors une guerre d'autant plus meurtrière qu'elle se déroule entre 4 000 et 5 000 mètres d'altitude. Filmé du point de vue indien, les nombreux protagonistes souvent inspirés de personnages réels, sont non seulement des hommes qui accomplissent des actes héroïques, mais aussi souffrent, pleurent la mort de leurs camarades de combat et se souviennent avec nostalgie de leur femmes, petites amies et familles.

The film opens before the declaration of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. At a Forward operating Airbase Air force Wing Commander Anand 'Andy' Bajwa, setting his stop watch waits for the Air raid Siren to go. As the siren goes he sprints Towards his MiG-21 armed, fueled and Ready for take off. Bajwa and His Air Force wingmen soon take off to an unknown Airbase in Rajasthan. Once there, he is Debriefed by his superior that he & his Squadron are assigned to the Jaisalmer sector and has to fly outdated Hawker Hunter Ground attack planes (with no night vision capabilities) to support the Indian Army. He is soon joined by his Brother-in-arms Army Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri (played by Sunny Deol) as they meet on a courier flight and speak about the possibility of opening of the Western front in light of the East Pakistan conflict. Kuldip takes up command of a company of the 23rd Battalion Punjab Regiment, arguing the light defence being assigned to the military post of Longewala. He meets his second in command 2nd Lt Dharamvir Bhan (Akshaye Khanna) (who happens to be the son of a 1965 Indo-Pakistani-War veteran who was killed during that war) and the Company NCO Subedar Mathura Das (Sudesh Berry). The company moves to the remote outpost in the deserts of Rajasthan and begin to expand the rudimentary Border Security Force (BSF) post and does a recce of the area up to the international border with Pakistan. They meet the post's BSF commandant Bhairon Singh (Sunil Shetty), a deeply patriotic man who expresses his love for the desert.

The film focuses on the caste and feudal system in Rajasthan. Ranjit Singh is the son of a peasant living in a village which is dominated by a rich landlord family. As a teenager studying in the village school, Ranjit is rebellious and defiant. He is bullied by the two sons of the landlord, who are of his own age. Two girls who also study in the same school are sympathetic to Ranjit. These are the daughter of the school-master and the daughter of the rich landlord (sister of the bullies). Sick of the exp;itation he sees around him, Ranjit runs away to the city.

Story revolves around a police officer who kills a bandit and adopts his orphan son. The boy becomes a police officer and falls in love with the man's daughter Gauri played by Farha. The storyline was intended to have been about terrorism and how an anti-terrorist intelligence officer Captain Raja Sethi (Sanjay Dutt) who is part of a secret organisation known as Force 10 is sent on a mission to find an Afghan terrorist named Nasheman (Raveena Tandon). After he is captured and tortured by Nasheman and her right hand man Mast Gul (Rahul Dev), his partner Captain Jeet Sharma (Salman Khan) is sent to rescue him. However by now, Raja Sethi is brainwashed by Mast Gul in believing his country and his friends has abandoned him and he too turns to terrorism. Shilpa Shetty played Salman's love interest and Vinod Khanna played a General.
