Madurai Meenakshi is a 1993 Tamil language drama film directed by P. Amirtham. The film features Selva and Ranjitha in lead roles, with Sujatha, Nassar, Captain Raju, S. S. Chandran, Vijay Krishnaraj, Pradeep Shakti, Prathapachandran, Vijayakumar and Chandrasekhar playing supporting roles. The film, produced by A. Gunanithi, had musical score by Deva and was released on 24 February 1993.
Synopsis
Madurai (Selva) is a traffic police who dreams to become a police inspector and he lives with his mother Maragatham (Sujatha). One day, he clashes with Meenakshi (Ranjitha) the daughter of the corrupt home minister Ulaganathan (Captain Raju). Meenakshi uses her father's power to change Madurai's duty and Madurai becomes her house guard. Meenakshi spends her time to humiliate the poor Madurai. Kumarasamy (Vijayakumar), his brother Kulasekaran (Nassar) and his sister-in-law Gomathi (Sabitha Anand) run a free school for blind children in their property. The prime minister orders Ulaganathan to buy their property. But they refuse to sell it so Ulaganathan's henchmen kill Kumarasamy. In the meantime, Madurai and Meenakshi fall in love with each other. Ulaganathan gets to know their love and transfers Madurai at the local police station. Inspector Rudra (Pradeep Shakti) and Ulaganathan decide to buy Kulasekaran's property by force and to send Madurai behinds the bars. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.Acteurs

The story begins starts with the birth of a baby girl, Nandini, in the world of feudal landlords (Zamindars) whose word is a law for the villagers who work on their land. Nandini's three brothers throw a feast in honor of the girl child. The young son of the local singer (who had died) is brought in to sing for the event. The three brothers raise Nandini like their own child as their parents had died. At the age of 5, an astrologer predicts that Nandini will bring much happiness to the family, but her marriage will be based on her choice and not the choice of her brothers. This angers the brothers and to prevent this from happening, she is raised within the confines of the house.She is home schooled and when she does go out, all the men are warned to hide from Nandini and that seeing Nandini will be met with dire consequences.

Amavasai (Sathyaraj),homeless but egoistic, gets acquainted to politician Manimaran, then MLA of palladam constituency, near tirupur (Manivannan). Amavasai helps Mani with some petty tasks during election campaign and meetings. Amavasai grows into a well acclaimed helper and first associate for Mani. Meanwhile Amavasai falls in love with thayamma(Kasthuri) and one day gives her some drug making her groggy and then deflowers her. Mani instructs Amavasai to stand for MLA election as independent candidate in the coming general election with his support as mani was not given his party ticket. Amavasai wins by huge margin and becomes the MLA. He forgets his relationship with Kasthuri and rejects her pregnancy and child. Kasthuri and her parents move out of that village to avoid humiliation. Soon kasthuri gives birth to a boy and dies. Amavasai forgets Mani's help and forces him in role under him. He changes his name to Nagaraja Cholan for gaining social status. He marries the only daughter of the rich local landlord, Sivakami (Sujatha) and even cheats him of his Palace. Over years Amavasai grows into highly influential and corrupt politician with high criminal affluence. He builds a strong political empire through shortcuts. His ego and pride to remain in power make him kill many. He wins and remains as MLA of palladam in all the general elections for next 20 years.

Rajakumaran (Prabhu) is the son of the village chief (Vijayakumar). Yuvaraj (Nassar) hates Rajakumaran and his village. Selvi (Meena Durairaj) and Vaidehi (Nadhiya) are in love with their cousin Rajakumaran but he chooses Vaidehi. Selvi decides to sacrifice her love, her father Selvaraj (Captain Raju) refuses to give his property to village people as promised and his only request is that Rajakumaran gets married with Selvi. Selvi convinced Rajakumaran to lie, he lies to her father and he gives his property. Vaidehi committed suicide and Rajakumaran reveals his lie. One day, some goons decide to put a bomb and Rajakumaran saves the village. The village thinks that the culprit was Thangaraj (Thyagu) because he wanted to revenge Rajakumaran after his lie. Angry, Thangaraj insults Rajakumaran's father in public and Rajakumaran's father died. Yuvaraj asks to Selvaraj and Thangaraj to marry Selvi, and they accept. The village was against the marriage. A man (R. V. Udayakumar) came and said that a deaf-mute girl, who learnt to read and to write, was the witness of Vaidehi's murder by Yuvaraj. On the marriage day, Yuvaraj cancelled the marriage and decided to humiliate Selvi. Rajakumaran saves her and he decides to marry her.
