Mere Sanam (English: My Lover Hindi: मेरे सनम) was a Hindi film released in 1965 starring Asha Parekh, Biswajeet, Pran, Rajendra Nath and Mumtaz. The film was a hit at the box office, especially because of the musical score by Majrooh Sultanpuri, O.P. Nayyar and Asha Bhonsle-Mohammed Rafi combination.

The Songs 'Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge', 'Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon Ka Andhera', 'Pukarta Chala Hoon Main' and 'Humdum Mere Maan Bhi Jao' are milestones in Hindi film music.

This film is the unofficial remake of Come September which is a 1961 romantic comedy film directed by Robert Mulligan, and starring Rock Hudson, Gina Lollobrigida, Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin.

Synopsis

Neena (Asha Parekh) is travelling to a remote holiday spot in the company of her mother and several female friends. During their journey they decide to stay overnight at a lodge. Another lodger, Kumar (Biswajeet), finds their presence undesirable and asks the caretaker to get the surprised group to leave. The caretaker explains that Kumar is mentally unstable and under the impression that he is the owner of the lodge.

Mohini (Naina Sahu) is a medical student, and lives at home with her father Kishenlal Saxena Nazir Hussain, a college Professor, and her ailing mother. Her neighbours are Bipin (Shiv Kumar) and his parents. Bipin and his friends have just returned to their town from Bombay after completing their studies. One of Bipin's friends, Ravi Mehra (Biswajeet), is the son of a wealthy businessman, Amarchand Mehra (Sapru). Ravi and Mohini meet and fall in love. Bipin also loves Mohini but has never expressed his feelings. When Ravi leaves to go abroad for further studies, he promises he will get green bangles for her, as a symbol of marriage. However, soon after he leaves, Mohini is told by their family doctor that she is pregnant. Vilified and expelled from college, her father is her only support especially since her mother dies soon after hearing the news.

Nisha lives a very wealthy lifestyle in Neelgaon, India, with her businessman dad, Sardar Roop Singh. She is now of marriageable age, and her dad wants her to marry his friend's son, Sohan, but Nisha dislikes him. À la suite du décès de leurs parents, Muskaan (Kajol) et son frère Vishal (Arbaaz Khan) ont été élevés à la campagne par leur oncle et leur tante. Vishaal veut alors que Muskaan épouse le frère de Thakur Vijay Singh (Aashif Sheikh) sans savoir que Thakur Vijay Singh (Nirmal Pandey) ne souhaite cette union que dans le but de se venger de la famille de Muskaan pour un différend que les deux familles avaient eu il y a longtemps.

Manorama (Nirupa Roy) comes to Lucknow along with her infant daughter after the death of her husband, searching for her maternal uncle.
