Negatives is a 1988 independent horror film directed by Tony Smith and starring Duane Jones and Debbie Rochon.

This film was shut down halfway through the shooting schedule due to an overwhelming amount of bounced checks from the producer. Some footage was salvaged and integrated into another film called Fright House.

Several attempts to finish the film were made, but failed due to lack of money. Each subsequent crew was less experienced (and cheaper) than the preceding one. This explains the inconsistent quality of the film with the best footage shot by Ernest Dickerson.

Horror film icon Duane Jones starred in Negatives as psychic researcher Charles Harmon.

Fright House is a hybrid film and contains two sixty minute (approx) features Fright House and ABADON.

Fright House, the first half stars Al 'Grandpa' Lewis, is about a coven of witches in an old mansion and not the subject of this article.

ABADON, the second half, is about a new female student Ione arriving at a private art school to join her boyfriend Gary. There she discovers the nasty secret to why the school mistress Madeline Abadon , played by Jackie James, looks (and remains) so young. This second part of the Fright House feature was pulled and reedited from the footage shot for the original Negatives. However Debbie Rochon's scenes DO NOT appear in the renamed film Fright House.

Negatives was one of the first movies in which Rochon appeared and helped launch her career as a horror film Scream Queen.

Duane Jones suffered a fatal heart attack during production and was unable to complete the film.

Ernest Dickerson was the original DP/Cinematographer.

Following the execution of a convicted child rapist and murderer, drivers Dan and Mike are in the process of delivering the corpse to the county cemetery for anonymous burial. After brief words by Reverend Hicks, Dan and Mike notice that the corpse appears to be twitching and possibly even moving. They are suddenly attacked by the reanimated corpse, prompting them to flee to Beekman's Diner. Meanwhile, Barbra (Judith O'Dea) and Johnny (Russell Streiner) drive to rural Pennsylvania for an annual visit to their father's grave, at their mother's request. Noticing Barbra's discomfort, Johnny teases, "They're coming to get you, Barbra", before she is attacked by a strange man (Bill Hinzman), the same reanimated corpse that Dan and Mike were in the process of burying. Johnny tries to rescue his sister, but falls and bashes his head on a gravestone, killing himself. Barbra flees by car but almost instantly crashes into a tree. With the man in pursuit, she flees and eventually arrives at a seemingly abandoned farmhouse where, to her horror, she discovers a woman's mangled corpse. Running out of the house, she is confronted by strange menacing figures like the man in the graveyard. Ben (Duane Jones) arrives in a truck and takes her back inside the house. Barbra slowly descends into shock as Ben drives the monsters from the house and begins boarding up the doors and windows.
