Pancha Thanthram is a 1974 Malayalam film directed by J. Sasikumar and produced by EK Thyagarajan. The story is written by Sasikumar, Sreemoolanagaram Vijayan, music by G Devarajan and lyrics by Sreekumaran Thampi. The cast included Prem Nazir, Jayabharathi, Adoor Bhasi, Jose Prakash, Sankaradi, Sreelatha, TR Omana, TS Muthaiah, Bahadoor. KP Ummer and Vincent in guest appearance.

Synopsis

The story pivots around the mysterious death of Raja Vamana Varma, the king of a small city-state in Kerala. A huge bronze statue of the king murders several people with a sword. It is believed that the ghost of the king enters the statue and commits the murders. The statue attempts to murder the queen, Gayathri Devi, and her five-year-old son. The queen escapes and the prince runs away from the palace.

Aravindan, a college lecturer, falls in love with his student Radha and marries her. However, the couple's sexual life is a failure, causing intense agony to Radha's father, Panikkar who is keen to have grandchildren. When all other means fail, Panikkar approaches a psychiatrist, who finds out that Aravindan's inability to have sex with Radha may have something to do with his intense affection for his mother, who had died just six months before Aravindan met Radha. How the doctor cajoles Radha into solving her husband's illness forms the climax.
