All characters in the movie were named after the original names of the actors. Sudhakar (Sudhakar) is a poor young man desperately looking for work. One day he has a skirmish with Radhika (Raadhika Sarathkumar), a rich girl and lone daughter of a businessman Selladurai, in a telephone booth. Radhika finds out that Sudhakar is searching for a job from his diary that he leaves at the booth. She employs him in her father's firm as a manager and soon they mutually fall in love. Radhika's class-conscious father initially opposes but later reluctantly agrees to have them married. However things take a turn when his business friend Sivaraman, to whom he owes a lot of favours, visits him and reminds him of his old promise to get Radhika married to Sivaraman's son Vijayan. And soon after Sudhakar goes missing with five lakhs of the office cash on his way to Bombay and is presumed to have absconded. Radhika is heart-broken and her father takes her to Sivaraman's estate in Ooty to relax for a while.

Harischandra Prasad (Venkatesh) the arbitrator and most respected person in a village and sees through that all the people lives happily, he has strong enmity Singaraju Lingaraju (Anand Raj) opponent to him in village. Vishwa (Surya) and Nilani (Preetha) fall in love, her mother doesn't approve, but goes along with it. Complications arise when Surya's character exhibits "fashion" photos he's taken of Preetha, which further upsets Preetha's mother. Then it comes to light that Surya's father (Prakash Raj) had an affair, and things take a dramatic, tragic turn for the lovers. In the end, both families arrive at airport to prevent Preetha from boarding flight but to their bad luck they could not stop it. Preetha commits suicide by swallowing poison from her ring and Surya who gets hit by a wall turns into mentally challenged with behaviour of a child.

Sakthivel Gounder (Sarath Kumar) is one of the most respected, educated and wealthiest men in his district. While his two elder sons and daughter are all well educated, his last son Chinnarasu (Sarath Kumar) is considered a dunce owing to his poor academic history. In a flashback, it is revealed that Chinnarasu once loved and adored Gowri(Priya Raman) who was his wife to be until she attempted suicide to prevent this union as Chinnarasu was uneducated. Chinnarasu shoulders the entire blame and declares to his father that he is not interested in marrying Gowri and earned his father's wrath.
