Kaadhale Nimmadhi (English: Love itself is peace) is a 1998 romantic film Tamil language film directed by Indiran. The film features Suriya, Jeevitha Sharma and Sangeetha in the lead roles, while Murali makes an extended guest appearance. Raadhika, Manivannan and Nassar also play significant roles in the film, while Deva composed the film's soundtrack. The film did not succeed at either the box office or with critics.

Rangan (Nasser) is a very ugly man and therefore lives a tough life. He is kicked out of jobs, ill-treated constantly, and the girl he loves hates him. (Think "The Elephant Man.") Then one day, Rangan goes to the house of his make-up artist friend (Manivannan) and finds a strange mask that he picks up and wears. The mask adheres to his face, and Rangan becomes very handsome. (Think "The Mask"). With the Mask, Rangan generates followers, becomes a film star, and gets a wife who loves him solely for his handsome face (Roja). Nearing the end, Rangan takes off the Mask for a moment, and wishes people would respect him for who he is on the inside. His wife walks in, sees his ugly face, and throws him out, mistaking him for a robber. Rangan's former followers throw him to the side. Deciding that only beauty can bring him respect, Rangan puts the mask back on.

Udhayakumaran aka Udhaya(Vijay) is a college student who is doing research on atomic physics. Soon he is selected to study at Cambridge University due to the papers he has submitted on his research. However he declines and his teacher gives him the job of another teacher who is on leave. There he meets a student Vasanthi (Simran) and soon they fall in love. But later on he comes to know that she is engaged to be married. As he can't see his lover married off to someone else he moves to Chennai and finds a job as a reporter at a magazine with the help of Basheer (Vivek). He tries to fight for social change during which Basheer gets killed. He unknowingly gets to know a group of unsavoury characters who introduce him to their boss Dhananjay Veeran(Nassar) who poses as a person fighting for the people. They all promise to help him in his goals. Dhananjay asks Udhaya for a weapon to help break the granite rocks to save labour. Udhaya gives him a bomb that he had discovered during his research. However Dhananjay had other plans and uses it to cause a train to explode thereby killing many people. They frame him up. That night Udhaya is arrested by the police (Thalaivasal Vijay) and is accused of the bomb blast for which he was not responsible. Udhayakumar tries to fight his way out but in vain. In the process his father Muthuswamypillai(Rajesh) dies of heart attack on seeing his son in jail, himself being a retired constable. When Udhaya comes to his village to see his dead father Vasanthi tells him that his boss is not helping at all. While they are returning, the police jeep gets stuck in mud. So Udhaya, finding an opportunity, then cuts his handcuffs using one of the guns left behind by the police. He then sees Dhananjay Veeran and Niranjan discussing a plot to bomb a school bus and realises that Dhananjay is behind all this. He goes to the spot where one bus catches fire and Udhaya saves the children. Dhananjay arrives and seeing Udhaya attempts to shoot him but Udhaya stops him. Udhaya beats him up and throws him into the burning bus. The police arrests Udhaya despite the children's protests to not arrest him. He is taken to court where he is proven to not be guilty and is released. The film ends with Udhaya embracing Vasanthi.

Two honest and bold police officers Adhi Narayanan (Kamal Hassan) and Abbas (Arjun) device a master plan to bring in control the Terrorist Groups and send two secret vigilance officers, named Anand and Shiva on an operation called Operation "Dhanush". Pagal Nilavu is in essence the story of Selvam(Murali) an aimless youth in Muttam(Kanyakumari Dist) who out of a sense of deep gratitude ends up joining the gang of Devaraj aka Periyavar(Sathyaraj) and the complications which arise when he falls in love with Jyothi(Revathi), the sister of Robert Manohar(Sarat Babu) an honest and committed police inspector who is newly posted to the town. Periyavar pretty much runs the town and though he helps people in need, he is a diabolical kingpin who will not compromise on his hold of the town for anything. He wins Selvam’s undying loyalty when he helps him with money and power at a critical juncture to save his mother. In this backdrop Robert takes charge and moves into the town with his sister and daughter. Being uncompromising in his morals, Robert is automatically drawn into a game of oneupmanship with Periyavar and his gang. He also consequentially cannot stand Periyavar’s chief henchman Selvam, and is consequentially drawn into continuous verbal and physical duels with him. Selvam meanwhile falls hook line and sinker to Jyothi(Revathi) and tries every trick in the book to woo her and eventually wins.
