Synopsis
As described in a film publication, Curtis Steele (Oland), a society man at a film studio, has been pursuing actress Rita Moreland (Percy) and confronts her at the studio with the intention of making love to her. She repulses him and during the struggle shoots him. Steele staggers forward and collapses. She is terrified as she thought that the revolver had been loaded with blanks. As she bends over him, he leaps to his feet and with a sneering remark leaves. Later that night Rita is informed that Steele was found at the studio shot through the heart, and that there is a film showing Steel chasing her and then her shooting him. The serial then develops around Rita, her sweetheart, a villain, and the mystery of who killed Steele, who made the film, and attempts to obtain the film.Acteurs

Young explorer Terry Lee and his grown-up sidekick, Pat Ryan, arrive in the Asian jungles in search of Terry's father, Dr. Herbert Lee. The elder Lee is an archaeologist and leader of a scientific expedition seeking evidence of a lost civilization. Soon Terry discovers his father has been kidnapped by an armed pirate gang known as the Tiger Men. The gang is led by the evil Master Fang, a local warlord who controls half of the natives and holds the white settlers in fear. Fang is seeking the riches hidden beneath the Sacred Temple of Mara. Terry meets the Dragon Lady, who is determined her kingdom shall not be invaded. Attacked by Fang, his henchman Stanton and the Tiger Men, Terry and Pat try valiantly to locate the missing Dr. Lee, uncover the secrets of the lost civilization, and recover the hidden treasure of Mara. After joining forces with Connie, Normandie and the Dragon Lady, the heroes have myriad varied adventures in the inhospitable environment.

Captain Midnight was only one of the many aviation serials released in wartime whose leading characters were derived from early pulp magazines and radio favorites. In this serial, Captain Albright is an extremely skilled aviator better known as Captain Midnight, who is assigned to neutralize the sinister Ivan Shark, an evil enemy scientist who is bombing major American cities. Our hero leads the Secret Squadron, whose staff includes Chuck Ramsay who is Midnight's ward and Ichabod 'Icky' Mudd, the Squadron's chief mechanic. Shark has developed a highly efficient mercenary organization, being aided by his daughter Fury who is highly intelligent and second in command, Gardo the henchman and Fang, an Oriental ally. Unfortunately, Shark is after a new range finder invented by the altruistic scientist, John Edwards, whose beautiful daughter, Joyce, the villains attempt to capture to blackmail the inventor.

Le film commence dans les tranchées de la Première Guerre mondiale où Laurel et Hardy sont prêts à partir à l'assaut avec leurs camarades, mais on donne l'ordre à Laurel de rester à l'arrière et de garder la tranchée. On voit se succéder des scènes de combat, suivies de la légende « Armistice ». Vingt ans se passent et Laurel est toujours là en train de garder le poste, comme le prouve l'énorme tas de boites de haricots qu'il n'a cessé d'accumuler et le sentier qu'il a creusé en allant et venant pendant qu'il montait la garde. Un hasard fait qu'on le retrouve (après qu'il a tiré sur un avion qu'il avait vu approcher) ; on le ramène au pays et on le fête comme un héros. Hardy, marié depuis un an à une imposante madame Hardy (Minna Gombell), apprend la nouvelle dans un journal et rend visite à son ami au foyer des anciens combattants. Il le trouve dans un fauteuil roulant, ayant perdu apparemment une jambe et il l'invite chez lui. Cependant, Laurel se repose simplement dans le fauteuil roulant d'un autre ancien combattant et Hardy ne se rend compte que son ami a encore ses deux jambes qu'après avoir essayé de le porter. Il lui demande, furieux : « Pourquoi tu ne m'avais pas dit que tu avais tes deux jambes ? – Parce que tu ne me l'avais pas demandé » répond Laurel. Ils arrivent à l'auto de Hardy, qui dit qu'elle appartient à sa femme et qu'elle est « pratiquement neuve » mais elle est coincée par un tombereau. Laurel grimpe dedans pour le déplacer et involontairement met en marche le mécanisme de décharge, enterrant la voiture dans le sable d'où on ne voit émerger que la tête de Hardy. Il est ensuite éberlué quand Hardy lui montre la porte automatique du garage de sa maison et lui permet de conduire la voiture pour en comprendre le mécanisme.
