Synopsis
The film had Kamal Haasan playing dual roles; An unemployed guy from a middle class society and a guy from a rich society returning from abroad after his father's death. In order to claim the property of the Kamal Haasan, Vinuchakravarthy with his mob guys assaults him and make him a drug addict by repeated injections of some harmful sedatives. Radha's father (Danaal Thangavelu) who is a family friend of the rich-one's father with Radha who is also a lover of the another Kamal comes as an excursion. Due to her curiousness she sees the rich-one and finds out that he is in a dangerous state of his health due to the drug addiction. With the help of the house's servant Radha replaces the other Kamal to this house and saves him and his properties from the hands of Vinuchakravarthy and Senthamarai.Acteurs

Madan (Kamal Haasan) is a dancer by profession who is a dream boy of all young girls. Kalpana (Shobana),a young woman, is irritated by Madan's fame and she badly criticizes his performances which attracts attention of Madan on her. He challenges that he would make her long for him and his love, but he falls in love with her. He tries to win her love in several ways but eventually fails. One night he gets into her house with a face mask which makes Kalpana to misunderstand that he is a thief and screams and alerts her home. Madan is trapped and handed over to the police. Madan, who is a son of pickle businessman Ooruga Ulaganathan (V. K. Ramaswamy) rescues him from Police custody and finds the reason for incident to be his love for Kalpana. Kalpana's father, who is a psychiatrist, finds that Madan is the son of his old friend Ulaganathan. Madan-Kalpana's marriage is approved and fixed then.

Anand (Kamal Haasan) is a spoilt young man whose parents have died leaving behind a huge inheritance. He spends all his waking hours boozing and gambling with his buddies. One such night, he ends up in a brawl with some rowdies, but a stranger Selvam (Radharavi) comes to his rescue. Selvam beats up the rowdies and takes Anand back to his bungalow. A drunk Anand forces Selvam to spend the night in his house. However, the next day, he has no recollection of the previous night's events. His servant Mani (Janagaraj) and accountant Nagapillai (V. K. Ramasamy) come to Selvam's aid. In appreciation, Anand appoints Selvam as his Personal Assistant.

The story revolves around five people. Kamal Haasan, a city bred is married to Sumithra, a village girl. Ramu (MGR) is the cowardly one – the heir to all riches of Poonjolai Jamin. He has been raised that way by his sister's husband Narendran (Nambiar). Ramu shivers at the very mention of his brother in law's name and a whiplash is Narendran's favorite form of punishment. Narendran wants to get Ramu married to Leela (Saroja Devi) but she is turned off by his cowardice. Ilango (MGR) is a jobless young man, prone to pick a fight and for this reason, the cause of trouble for his mother. Circumstances lead to Ramu and Ilango taking each other's place. Ilango teaches a lesson to Narendran while Ramu learns the ways of the world. Then Ilango teaches Narendran a lesson which forces him to leave the house. Due to this, his sister scolds and he plans to leave by reveal that he was not Ramu. Then the relation of the story reveals that Ramu and Ilango are brothers. With Ramu being kidnapped and Ilango going to help his brother and revealing everything to narendran brings the film to climax.
