Anil Dhawan is an Indian film and television actor, most known for his debut film, Chetna (1970) and Piya Ka Ghar (1972).
He is memorable in the silver screen for the song "Yeh Jeevan Hai" in the movie Piya ka Ghar (1972) with actress Jaya Bhaduri. The music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and sang by Kishore Kumar.
He worked in a string of unconventional movies between late 1960s and early 1970s, which perhaps would have been better appreciated in some other era, such as Chetna, Yauwan, Piya Ka Ghar, and Annadata.
Now turned activist, Dhawan was part of Anna Hazare camp in his crusade against corruption in Indian public life.

Chetan Chauhan (Sanjay Dutt) and Bhagat Bhosle (Ajay Devgan) are two con artists, who have recently robbed Anthony Gonsalves (Arjun Rampal). Bhagat first meets Anthony and steals his suitcase, covering it up with a fake suitcase of his own, and tries to leave with it, but the real suitcase accidentally comes out of the fake one, causing Anthony to chase Bhagat, who escapes. Madhu (Kanishka Kapoor) lives a wealthy lifestyle in Mussoorie and operates Hotel Savoy. Pinky (Kajol), charmante jeune fille, et Bunty (Atul Agnihotri), jeune homme plein de vie, sont deux étudiants insouciants. Pinky et Bunty décident de s'enfuir pour se marier et se rendent chez une tante (Aruna Irani) pour qu'elle les conseille. Celle-ci se rend compte que les sentiments éprouvés par les deux jeunes gens ne sont pas très sincères et juge que leur union serait une erreur. Aussi fait-elle semblant de les approuver mais les guide dans le même sens que leurs familles : elle leur suggère de se marier selon les vœux de leurs parents mais en leur laissant croire qu'ils pourront divorcer afin de se retrouver. Pinky et Bunty suivent ses conseils puis mettent tout en œuvre pour rendre leurs vies conjugales infernales. Leur comédie semble fonctionner jusqu'à ce qu'ils découvrent que Shobha et Arjun se rencontrent en cachette.
