Glen Murphy MBE (born 6 April 1957) is an English actor, perhaps best known as George Green between 1988 and 2002 on the television drama London's Burning.
He attended St Bonaventure's School in Forest Gate.
He has also had roles on The Bill, Shine on Harvey Moon "Murphys Mob" Casualty and Doctor Who (in the 1986 story "The Mysterious Planet" as Dibber) and Fathers of Girls, Karl Howman's feature debut starring Ray Winstone.
He was awarded an MBE in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours for his charity work, and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 1995.
He now lives in Italy and Essex with his wife Linda, they have four children.
Murphy supports West Ham United and also likes horse riding, and has played guitar since first being asked to play bass guitar for a school band when he was 13. His father (Terence Murphy), his uncles (Joe Lucy and Eddie Wright), were all champion boxers. Glen's first fight was at the age of nine. He became a Schoolboy & a London Champion and went onto fight internationally. He trained in karate for 6 years under Dickie Wu, Terry Stewart and Jamie O'Keefe. He graded for shodan in November 1989 and still trains in the kyokushin style with the BKK under 7th Dan Liam Keaveney. He has also continued his training with Jamie O'Keefe and has been successful in taking his Nidan grade. He has also studied fencing, tang soo doo,and shooting. Glen played football for Chelsea as a schoolboy and became an apprentice with Charlton, and was registered with Enfield Town FC and Rainham Town FC in the FA Cup, and has played at Wembley 10 times.
Murphy is the patron of the SupportLine charity which provides a confidential telephone helpline offering emotional support to individuals on any issue.
He speaks English, Italian and some Japanese. Glen has been a keen photographer for over 30 years, but has only recently received a professional qualification from the Institute of Professional Photography.
Murphy has a production company, Omerta Films, and has two films in development and two at script level for 2015 and has finished production on Lost in Italy (New York Hells Kitchen World Cinema Best Film Award) and has started pre production with his next feature Sabini and a stage play is being written for him to play Johnny Cash, to tour UK next year.

L'intrigue se situe en Afrique du Sud peu avant les émeutes de Soweto. Donald Woods, un journaliste blanc, est habitué à répercuter les informations officielles du gouvernement sans aller sur le terrain, jusqu'au jour où il fait la connaissance du militant noir lutte anti-apartheid Steve Biko. Celui-ci lui ouvre les yeux sur la situation réelle de la population noire, qui n'a aucun accès aux médias. Steve Biko emmène le journaliste dans des quartiers/bidonvilles réservés aux Noirs, où Woods se rend compte à quel point la population noire souffre. Woods et Biko coopèrent contre l'inégalité des Noirs en publiant des articles, leur relation s'améliore et ils deviennent de vrai amis. Après le meurtre de Biko et ayant tenté de dévoiler la situation inéquitable, Woods et sa famille doivent quitter le pays afin d'assurer leur sécurité. Puis Woods publie un article sur l'histoire de Steve Biko et ses idées, pour les faire connaître au monde entier.
