Harry Pierce (Bud Abbott) and his friend, Willie Piper (Lou Costello), invest $5,000 in a motion picture studio. They are sold a deed to the Edison Studio by a con man, Joe Gorman (Fred Clark), who immediately leaves town with his girlfriend, Leota Van Cleef (Lynn Bari). The couple heads to Hollywood where he poses as a European director, Sergei Toumanoff, who plans to make a film starring Leota. Meanwhile, Harry and Willie pursue Gorman across the country in hopes of getting their money back after learning that the deed they purchased is worthless. They hop off a freight train near Los Angeles and stumble onto the set of the western film that Toumanoff happens to be directing. He is furious with the interruption, but the head of the movie studio, Mr. Snavely (Frank Wilcox), hires Harry and Willie because he is impressed with their "stunt work".

Fin des années 1920. Sam Fulton, milliardaire sans héritier, loue une chambre chez les Blaisdell, la famille de l'unique femme qu'il ait aimée et qui, cependant, a refusé de l'épouser. Quant au père, il multiplie les placements d'argent malencontreux. La famille Blaisdell est bientôt ruinée et le mariage de leur fille compromis. Les Blaisdell reprennent ainsi leur vie d'antan et Millicent retrouve celui qu'elle aime. Et Sam Fulton s'éloigne d'eux, la conscience tranquille.

The Kid from Cleveland tells the story of a "troubled teenaged fan" being helped by his favorite baseball team - the Cleveland Indians. The Indians had just won the 1948 World Series and many of the team's players made appearances along with owner Bill Veeck, co-owner and former Major League Baseball star Hank Greenberg, and then current coach and Baseball Hall-of-Famer Tris Speaker. Also featured were the team's then current and former ballparks, Cleveland Municipal Stadium and League Park. Several Cleveland Indians and Boston Braves players also appear in the film in archive baseball footage segments from the 1948 World Series.

Au grand désarroi de Martin et de Janet, Christine tombe sous la coupe du spirite, qui lui fait croire qu'il peut entrer en contact avec son défunt mari, et ils tentent de le démasquer. Pour eux, il n'est qu'un escroc à la petite semaine appâté par le gain mais Janet, à son tour, finit par être convaincue par la bonne foi du médium et en tombe même amoureuse. Pourtant, le bel Alexis est bien un charlatan manipulateur bien déterminé à arnaquer les deux sœurs.
