Synopsis
Vinayan comes from a rich family but he cannot stand up for modern lifestyle. His brother spends time dancing at clubs, his sister always listens to the radio, and his parents are always busy. He gets tired of life in the city and moves to a village taking a small job as a village officer. There he falls in love with a village girl but she is just the opposite of Vinayan and she wants to enjoy the luxurious life in a city. Soon they part. Vinayan continues in the village while his wife moves to the city. After a while she understands that her village life was far better and returns to her own village and the couple unites.Acteurs

Revathi's (Lizy) parents separated when she was young; she was raised by her mother who taught her that her father (Bharath Gopi) was a bad man. Years later, while on his deathbed, her father makes a last wish to see his daughter. Revathi refuses to go, so her orphan friend Susanna (Radha) goes in her place to fulfill his wish. Revathi's father is very happy to be with Susanna, thinking she is Revathy but Susanna dies. Kumaran (Thilakan) is a social worker. Captain Vijay (Mohanlal) is an army captain who is on his annual leave and has come to stay with his maternal uncle who raised him and his sister after the untimely death of their parents. In a turn of events Vijay sees Kumaran injured from an accident and crying for help. He takes Kumaran to a hospital but could not save his life. A singer Pappan (Rahman) is killed in a bike accident, but Yamaraj the Lord of Death (Thilakan) realizes that Pappan has a few more days to live. Bhaskaran(Sreenivasan), the local village goldsmith is in love with Snehalatha(Urvashi), the daughter of P.V.Panicker(Innocent), the local astrologer. They are neighbors. Snehalatha asks for a gold necklace made of 10 pavans (sovereigns) as a symbol of Bhaskaran's love. Bhaskaran makes a necklace and hands it over to Snehalatha. The story revolves around Ajayan (Mohanlal), who, after having tried his luck in different cities around the world, comes back to his village to look after his ageing mother Ammukutty Amma (Sheela) and to get her love and the nostalgia of his growing up years. There, he starts a company for producing agricultural equipment and earns his living as a farmer. One day a boy comes and meets Ajayan claiming to be his son. Ajayan used to boast himself as a womanizer in his youth is believed to be the boy's father by all villagers. Ammukutty Amma starts getting to like the boy and they form a very friendly relation and eventually she starts accepting the boy as Ajayan's real son, though Ajayan ferociously reject the boy's claim and dislikes him. The boy is persuaded by Ammukkty Amma to get close with Ajayan and subsequent events softens Ajayans attitude towards the boy. Ajayan then set forth to enquire about the real identity of the boy and travels to Chennai. He is absolutely sure that he is not his father as the real truth is his stories about adventures with woman were actually lies to get admiration of his friends. The climax show us that Ajayan accepts the boy as his own son.
