Dev and Sankaradi. This is the debut film of directors Siddique-Lal as scriptwriters. The film is loosely based on the film Heaven Can Wait (1978). This was the first film of Harisree Ashokan.This is Mohanlal's 100th film.
Synopsis
A singer Pappan (Rahman) is killed in a bike accident, but Yamaraj the Lord of Death (Thilakan) realizes that Pappan has a few more days to live. Yamarajan allows Pappan to enter into bodies of other dead people including that of Inspector Devdas (Mohanlal) in a bid to tell his girlfriend Sarina (Lizy) that Pappan is dead, and to look forward to someone else in life.Acteurs

Madhavan (Sreenivasan) is trying to get a job for his unemployed friend Sethu (Mohanlal). When a spate of robberies takes place in a middle-class neighbourhood, Madhavan has Sethu pose as Raam Singh, a Nepali émigré, to fulfill the residents' need for a Gorkha security guard. Nadodikattu opens by introducing the two protagonists, Ramdas/Dasan (Mohanlal) and Vijayan (Sreenivasan), who are employed as ill-paid peons. A commerce graduate, and proud of that, Dasan frequently vents his frustration in having to serve lesser qualified superiors and having to settle with lesser than what he feels he deserves in life. Vijayan is his less educated roommate and sole friend. Their relationship is one full of tension, with Dasan adopting a superior stance on the account of his education and good looks, which fiercely rattles Vijayan. Several comic situations later in the film borrow from this aspect of their characters. Dasan frequently bosses over Vijayan to do all the household chores.

The story revolves around a house owner, Gopalakrishna Panikkar, who is struggling with debt incurred during the wedding of his two sisters. He needs to force his tenants to vacate, so that the house can be sold and the debt repaid. The tenants do not want to leave for reasons of their own. How the various situations unfold and what happens to Gopalakrishna Panikker and the tenants is what the movie is all about.

Thilakan is a worker at a factory and his family consists of his wife(Kaviyoor Ponnamma), his dad(Krishnan Kutty Nair)and 4 children(2 sons and 2 daughters).Elder son(Balachandramenon) is trying hard to establish himself in Kerala after having had strong will to stay in Kerala rather than going abroad. Second son(Jagadeesh)is looking for a Government job. Balachandramenon finally starts a telephone booth and is inaugurated by Circle Inspector(Jagathi Sreekumar, which turns out to be an evergreen comedy scene in Malayalam. Thilakan however wants Jagadeesh to look out for better prospects in the interim of his test results. Jagadeesh also shows some plans to start a business of his own. Once he and Thilakan travelling to Mangalore for a job need of Jagadish, meets up with an accident when the lorry they were travelling fell into a river. Jagadeesh escapes and Thilakan is not found. He is believed to be killed in the accident. Thilakan, is an insurance holder for a huge amount and his sons make arrangements to claim it stating that their father is killed in the accident. Thilakan's boss(Shankaradi), knowing that Thilakan's family is getting a huge amount, tries to interfere with a fraud story. With the papers being arranged for insurance claim, Thilakan surprisingly returns home alive after being in an Ayurvedic Heritage home under treatment nursing his injuries of accident. His return, however does not please his sons, Jagadeesh in special, who by then had laid some business plans eyeing at his father's insurance money. They force Thilakan to stay home enclosed in a room without roaming outside so as to claim the insurance amount. Thilakan's return is witnessed by his neighbor(Innocent) who believes that its his ghost and he turns psychic. Thilakan, unable to bear the humiliation of being locked up in the house and seeing that his sons care money more than him, finally decides to leave home one night. He is accompanied by Kaviyoor Ponnamma who asks him whether he is leaving her alone behind. The climax scene shows Thilakan and Kaviyoor Ponnamma accompanied by Krishnan Kutty Nair also and the 3 travelling away from their children to lead a new life.

The movie is about a young Keralite who returns to his home state of Kerala after 7 long years of toil in the Gulf. He now plans to settle in his native town, with whatever savings he managed over the years. The movie traces his plight as he ventures to spend the rest of his life running a bus in a state where employee strikeouts are a common day-to-day event. Premachandran (Mohanlal) is a carpenter who lives along with his father, Balan Master (Bharath Gopi), and works along with his friend, Manikandan (Innocent). They are now working on a house near the house of a rich landlord. Kanmani (Meera Jasmine), who was sold by her mother, works in that house as a servant and is ill-treated. Seethamma (KPAC Lalitha) lives along with her daughter, Kumari (Muthumani), who has a liking towards Premachandran. One night, Premachandran goes to his workplace to take his tools. He sees Kanmani leaving the house and is puzzled. He follows her. She was on the verge of committing suicide when Premachandran rescues her. He gives her shelter in one room in a building owned by Chettiyar (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), telling Chettiyar that his friend did not get the bus to go back home. Kanmani dresses up as a boy by the name of Velayuthan Kutty and soon starts working with Manikandan and Premachandran. Balan Master starts liking the disguised boy. One day, Premachandran tells Kanmani that he has planned to rescue her by sending her to Tamil Nadu to work in a banian company where Premachandran's friend is working. Kanmani refueses to go. Premachandran accidentally confesses to Manikandan that Velayuthan Kutty is actually the missing Kanmani. Manikandan has no peace and shouts out the truth in the middle of the night. Two policemen, accidentally hear this and take Premachandran and Kanmani into custody.

The story revolves around Ajayan (Mohanlal), who, after having tried his luck in different cities around the world, comes back to his village to look after his ageing mother Ammukutty Amma (Sheela) and to get her love and the nostalgia of his growing up years. There, he starts a company for producing agricultural equipment and earns his living as a farmer. One day a boy comes and meets Ajayan claiming to be his son. Ajayan used to boast himself as a womanizer in his youth is believed to be the boy's father by all villagers. Ammukutty Amma starts getting to like the boy and they form a very friendly relation and eventually she starts accepting the boy as Ajayan's real son, though Ajayan ferociously reject the boy's claim and dislikes him. The boy is persuaded by Ammukkty Amma to get close with Ajayan and subsequent events softens Ajayans attitude towards the boy. Ajayan then set forth to enquire about the real identity of the boy and travels to Chennai. He is absolutely sure that he is not his father as the real truth is his stories about adventures with woman were actually lies to get admiration of his friends. The climax show us that Ajayan accepts the boy as his own son.
