The film, produced by V. Natarajan, had musical score by Karthik Raja and was released on 15 August 1996. The film is a remake of Malayalam film Aadyathe Kanmani.
Synopsis
Ranganayaki (Vadivukkarasi), a rich women, has three sons : Gopi (Pandu), Madhu (Chinni Jayanth) and Balu (Ramki). Ranganayaki wants absolutely a grandson and she will pass on her whole inheritance to her son who has a male child. The elder sons have only daughters and Balu is still bachelor.Acteurs

Uma (Urvashi) marries Balu (Ramki), an honest civil engineer. Uma thinks that he is rich and receives lot of bribes but turns out Balu is from the middle-class like her. Uma is a miser and dreams to become rich. After few years, they have two children. In the meantime, Priya (Kushboo), the daughter of Balu's boss Rajasekhar (Rajasekhar), falls in love with Balu and asks him to marry her unaware of Balu's marriage and his two children. Balu refuses to marry her as he was already married but she compels him. When Priya meets Uma, she offers her one crore rupees in exchange for marrying Balu. Uma immediately agrees and she starts forcing Balu for remarriage. Finally, Balu agrees with heavy heart as Uma threatens to commit suicide. Soon, Balu also starts falling in love with Priya. Uma slowly realizes her mistake and wants to get Balu back. The rest of the story is what happen to Balu, Uma and Priya.

The movie opens in an engineering college in Ooty with a narration of the characters. Rajiv Samuel (Abbas) is a computer engineering student and is one of the top students in the college, whereas Rajesh (R. Madhavan) is a mechanical engineering student who is the bad guy of the college. A mutual problem between the two groups led by both Samuel and Rajesh puts both Sam and Rajesh at loggerheads and they pull pranks on each other to get the other in trouble. It culminates into a fist fight but is soon broken up their friends. In the fight, Rajesh punches Sam in the face, which is against the rule, and Sam promises to return the favor in future. They graduate from the college soon and promise to not see each other ever again. Sam goes abroad for job, while Rajesh stays back in India saying that he does not want to leave his motherland.
