The film follows Parameshwaran, a high profile businessman, who leads a dual life of an underworld negotiator. It starred Mohanlal, Indraja, Divya Unni, Narendra Prasad, N. F. Varghese and Vineeth. It was produced jointly by Shaji Kailas and Ranjith under the banner of Country Talkies. The film was a major flop at the box office, and received negative reviews from the critics.
Synopsis
Usthad (Mohanlal) was a don in Mumbai.Now he decides to stop everything and settle down in his home town with his sister Padmaja (Divya Unni).Before he goes back he sends his people Sami(Janardhanan) and Sethu (Ganesh Kumar) to Yousuf shah associates where he wants to withdraw his share.But Yousuf shah was not ready to give him a single pie.When Sulaiman(Mafia Sasi), the manager of yousuf,make problem,Ustad come directly and beats him and takes the money.Acteurs

Nandagopan (Mohanlal) is a respected dance teacher at the Kerala Kala Mandiram (alluding to the famed Kerala Kalamandalam repertory which performs Kerala's temple arts). However, his wife Sumangala (Parvathi) commits suicide, causing the hero to turn into an alcoholic and compulsive rule breaker. He is suspected of having killed his wife and is suspended form his job for drunken misbehaviour. The new secretary of the institute Velayudhan (Nedumudi Venu) wants him to be sacked but his former reputation gives him a reprieve. He trains the talented student Malavika (Monisha) to perform in his ambitious composition of the Sita Ramayanam, but her jealous young lover Soman (Vineeth) poisons and kills him.

The story revolves around Ravi (Shiva Rajkumar), the son of Ramanna (K. S. Ashwath), a Police Constable who wishes to make his son an Inspector one day. Ravi, a recent college graduate, has many opportunities to enter different fields but he goes with his father's dream of becoming an Inspector. Ramanna gets transferred into a town whose residents are troubled by the rowdy Kari Kaala (Mohan Raj). The police force in the town turns a blind eye to the acts of Kari Kaala. One day Ramanna gets information that Kari Kaala is creating trouble in the market place. Being an honest police man he goes on site to investigate where he takes him on. Hearing of trouble, Ravi too rushes to the market place. Ramanna is no match for the goon and Ravi tries to intervene before his father is killed. A fight ensues between Kari Kaala and Ravi and both are arrested by the police. Since he managed to defeat the reigning rowdy, Ravi is typecast a rowdy by the people of the town.

Achuthan Nair (Thilakan), an honest and sincere police constable, has a loving family consisting of his wife Ammu (Kaviyoor Ponnamma), two sons and two daughters. Achuthan Nair wants his elder son Sethumadhavan (Mohanlal) to be a police inspector. He shares a cordial and amiable relation with his son. Ravi Varma(Sreenivasan), Kesava Pillai(M.G Soman), Prabhakara Varma(Karamana Janardhanan Nair) and Rajaraja Varma(Maniyanpilla Raju) seek methods to kill King Udaya Varma Thampuran(Nedumudi Venu) to amass his wealth. Udaya Varma's wife Bhagirathi Thampuratti(Kaviyoor Ponnamma) has fallen into depression after the untimely death of their son Unni. She is locked up at home and looked after by Udaya Varma's daughter Radha(Gautami). Ravi Varma and group fears that Udaya Varma might will his wealth to Radha, being his daughter, who is believed to be born of Thampuran's illicit relationship with his maid. The group is helped by Cheriyachan Thampuran(Thikkurissy), a blind cousin of Thampuran, who also eyes at King's wealth. He advises the Group on the plans to eliminate the King upon condition of sharing the wealth with him. As per his advice Ravi Varma travels to Mumbai in search of a killer. There he meets Jamal(Mammukoya) who helps him.

The film is a socio-centric story of education system that existed in the period 80's - 90's in Kerala. Divakaran, in search of a good job acquires fake certificates from Mysore TTC and becomes a teacher in a government aided lower primary school run by a corrupt manager. The thatched school is deplorable in every conditions. Children mainly comes for the food that is served. The teachers come mainly for getting the money and do not care about the kids or the facilities in the school. The corrupt manager runs the school as a business for getting grants and making money from appointments. In the climax the hero relaises his mistake from guilt which was seeded by his father and took form when the dilapidated school causes death of 3 students. In the turn of events Divakaran surrenders to police for using a fake teaching certificate. The narration is typical "Sreenivasan" style, through a cozy blanket of comedy, he explains the socioeconomic & political milieu existing in Kerala through a set of events. It is a relevant movie since contemporary incidents of the same nature are revealed through newspapers and increasing day by day even in the 21st century.

Kalliyur Gopinathan alias Gopi (Mohanlal) is a member of a happy family with carnatic music heritage and he himself is a good singer. Kalliyur Ramanathan (Nedumudi Venu) who is also an excellent singer, is Gopi's elder brother, guru and role model. Ramanathan is married to Ramani (Lakshmi) and has a son Appu. Gopi is in love with Devi (Urvashi) who is the sister of Ramani. Raman reigns in the family and in the society with his music. But he turns into alcoholic. Despite several attempts by family members to make him give up the habit and several failed assurances to his family members, he is unable to give up the habit. Movie depicts Raman reaching for a concert in an inebriated state and Gopi is forced to take over. He is an instant hit with the masses. This has been depicted quite symbolically during the song Sree Vinayagam. Gopi's music, which was hidden behind his brother's charisma now flows out in full strength. Taking this as an insult, Raman starts hating his brother and strives hard to recover from alcoholism. His morale is shattered when organizers of the Tyagaraja Aaradhana select his brother over him to perform. This makes Raman angry. So Gopi decides to stop singing. But on hearing this Raman understands his mistake and asks Gopi to sing at Tyagaraja Aaradhana. Ramanathan attends his brother's concert in a drunken state but is able to appreciate his brother's talent. With a longing to get rid of the alcoholism and perform a concert with his brother, he sets on a pilgrimage, but was never to return. Gopi, getting to know that Raman is killed in an accident, is forced to conceal this truth because of their vocally disabled sister's marriage. Gopi gets lot of moral support with Devi, who also knows about the truth. Gopi's trauma reaches penultimate when his family comes to know about Raman's death and that Gopi was concealing it. Everything ends fine when the family understands his intentions.
