Mazhai (English: Rain) is a 2005 Tamil film directed by Rajkumar. It is a remake of the multi award-winning Telugu film Varsham starring Prabhas, Trisha and Gopichand. The remake stars Jayam Ravi, Shriya, Vadivelu, Kalabhavan Mani, Venkat Prabhu and Rahul Dev. The film's music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
Synopsis
Arjun (Jayam Ravi), an unemployed youngster and Deva (Rahul Dev) a powerful don both fall in love with Sailaja (Shriya), a middle-class beauty, at the same time on a rainy day at a railway station. Arjun keeps bumping into Sailaja coincidentally every time it rains. This makes them both feel that it is perhaps the rain that keeps bringing them together, and they start to fall in love. Deva, on the other hand, takes the back-door route to get the girl, with the help of her good-for-nothing father (Kalabhavan Mani). After learning of the Arjun and Sailaja's love, Deva and Sailaja's father work up devious plans to break them up. And finally they succeed in creating a rift between the two lovers. Though Arjun realizes what is really happening, Sailaja falls prey to the foils of the Deva and her father. The young lovers part ways; Sailaja becomes a leading lady in the movies and Arjun works with his uncle in a quarry as a demolition expert. Deva is cheated out of some money by Sailaja's father, and as revenge, he finds out where Sailaja now lives and kidnaps her from right under her parents' noses. Sailaja's father realizes that the only person who is daring enough and cares enough to get his daughter back is Arjun and goes to him with his pleas. It takes much convincing, but Arjun finally decides to rescue Sailaja but for reasons other than love.At this point Sailaja begins to realise that her father lied to her and tries to get back with Arjun but he refuses because she did not trust him. Soon somehow Sailaja convinces Arjun that it wasn't her fault and they both start loving again. The climax is a heroic fight between Arjun and Deva.Acteurs

The story starts with a man threatens peoples of Rajapulla Market. It is revealed that Balu is not son of Rajeshwari Devi. His real name is Ghani. In flashback, he saves khan. so, Khan takes Ghani with him. After 20 years, Ghani is now Ghani Bhai, a rowdy. A man who is now working under Khan. In other side, a girl is raped by some people. Indu (Neha Oberoi) is very coward. But after meeting with Ghani she becomes brave and fights with the rapers of that girl. Indu and Ghani fall in love with each other. And Indu reveals about her family, her father (Suman) was an honest man. Some People killed her father and brother. This time it is revealed that Rajeshwari Devi is mother of Indu. Indu names Ghani as Balu. But Khan kills Indu. In Indu's death time Ghani promises her that he will take care of Indu's family. After that we come in present and saw Ghani in Hospital. After Ghani becomes well, Khan's henchemen found's him and a fight starts in Khan and Ghani. At last Ghani kills khan and reunites with Priya.

The film begins in a small village in Tirunelveli district where a few upper caste men hold a chariot festival.
