Accident is a 1985 Indian Kannada language film directed by Shankar Nag. The film stars his elder brother Anant Nag and wife Arundhati Nag in lead roles. It was considered a landmark film in Kannada cinema.

The film won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues at the 32nd National Film Awards in 1985. It also won multiple awards at the 1984-85 Karnataka State Film Awards including the award for First Best Film.

Synopsis

Deepak (Ashok Mandanna), the spoilt son of a powerful politician Dharmadhikari (Ananth Nag) runs his imported car over pavement dwellers one fateful night under the influence of drugs.

Geetha (Akshata Rao) is a college-going student, who has co-organised a charity concert in her college. Sanjay (Shankar Nag), a singer, performs at the show singing the track "Santhoshakke". Floored by performance and his good luck, she pursues him. A university champion in badminton, she invites him to her club to play, with an intention to get closer to him and succeeds. However, Geetha suffers from an illness, the symptoms of which is seen in her holding her neck tight and screaming. Her father Srinivas (K. S. Ashwath) suffers from a heart ailment. Following another of Sanjay's concert, she confesses her love to him. He, however fails to remember her every time, and eventually, falls in love with her.

Parameshi (played by Ramesh Bhat) is happily married to Ramamani (played by Arundhati Nag), and have a son called Paapu. He works for a small time firm dealing in wallpaper distribution, where his colleagues are gossip mongers. One amongst them is Simha, an office peon, who indulges in gambling bets with the employees of a leading law firm on Bangalore's prestigious MG Road. Parameshi, being a simpleton, is unaware of what his colleagues are up to. He falls prey to Simha's bet and ends up going out with a female colleague. Ramamani does not like Parameshi's going out with another woman and confronts him. Parameshi scoffs and suggests there is nothing wrong with socializing and he would be okay if Ramamani also goes out with another guy.

Ondu Muttina Kathe revolves around a deep sea diver, played by Rajkumar, who dives into the sea in search of pearls. One day he manages to bring a shining pearl to his house. The film is narrated in a non-linear fashion, with the use of several multiple flashbacks. In the opening scene, a dreaded underworld don is brutally hacked to death by unknown assailants. The story opens with a kidnapping of an architect (Avinash) at night. He is whisked away to a secluded location where he is tortured by unknown assailants for information regarding the structural details of a bank which he helped build. When the torture reaches excruciating levels, the architect gives in and shares the confidential details of the security alarms and safety devices in the bank.
