Manjadikuru is a story of homecoming from late 1980s, when 10-year-old Vicky arrives at his grandparents home in rural Kerala to attend his grandfather's funeral. The disjointed family gathers together for the sixteen-day-long funeral period. During this period, Vicky discovers more about himself, his family and culture than he had expected to. The journey is narrated through the memories of an adult Vicky who returns to the same house to recount the experience. After some years the boy returns as a young man (Prithviraj), to visit old grounds, and finds the 'Lucky red seeds' scattered away.

The movie shows how a young woman Padmini(Madhavi) who is separated from her husband gets attached to a young orphan girl Gigi(Sonia) when they meet in a hospital during their stay after a bus accident. Gigi has lost her mother in the accident and Padmini decides to take Gigi with her. Gigi is not completely mentally stable and is a special needs child. Padmini brings Gigi to Dr. Padmanabhan (Mammootty) who after initial apprehension accepts Gigi in his institute as a student by the day. Gigi gradually improves and Padmini is peaceful. Padmini's separated husband Sethu (Lalu Alex) is still trying to win her back. The viewers are shown that Padmini separated from her husband because she lost her children due to an episode of reckless motorcycle riding from husband. Padmini decides to go back to Sethu and adopt Gigi as their daughter. However Gigi's special behavior annoys Sethu and Gigi starts to feel insecure about losing her mother again. The movie goes on to show Padmini's emotional turbulence.

August Club is a woman-centric film told from the point of view of Savithri (Rima Kallingal), a young upper middle class housewife. She is the unrivalled chess champion of a nearby local club. Vishnu (Mammootty)is a rich business man, happily married to innocent Seetha (Saritha). Vishnu is a flirt and always interested in having affairs with multiple partners. However most of his plans did always become unsuccessful. He pretends to love Ragini(Shyama) and assures her to marry her. But his intentions are different. He starts having affair with a young and beautiful Revathi (Lizy Priyadarshan). He also gets infatuated by the newly appointed steno Rose Mary (Urvashi) at his office. But every time, he fails to reach his target. He is so lascivious and a womanizer who even gets attracted to a teenage girl (Suma Jayaram). The situation gets worsened after he joins team with Thomas Chacko (Thilakan) and Murali. Murali introduces Vishnu to a new girl Indhu (Maathu) who is an orphan. Indu is childlike and innocent and she blindly believes Murali. She went off with Vishnu to his house. Vishnu, eagerly waiting for a sexual intercourse, gets distracted and disappointed by Indhu's genuine nature. The Climax is reached when Vishnu's mother (Sukumari), Malathi and her father arrive at Vishnu's bungalow. Vishnu manages to make his family believe that Indhu is his illegitimate daughter. But he had to face the dangerous consequences that awaited him. Vishnu's family accepted Indhu as his daughter and took her to the ancestral home. Vishnu is completely bewildered and disappointed as he needs to return Indhu to Murali. Vishnu changes his mind and determines not to give Indhu back to them. The rest of the story deals with the complex situations.
