Albhutha Dweepu (Malayalam: അത്ഭുതദ്വീപ്) is a 2005 Malayalam-language Indian movie, directed by Vinayan. The movie created history by becoming the first Indian movie whose remake rights have been bought by Hollywood. Ajaykumar, Prithviraj and Mallika Kapoor appear in lead roles in the movie. The movie is about a mysterious island where all the men are dwarfs and all the women, normal.

Albhutha Dweepu was released in 2005 and the remake rights were sold almost immediately to Hollywood director Ron Howard who was in India at that time. But later the project was cancelled.

The film features Ajaykumar (Pakru) as the dwarf prince Gajendra. He has made an entry into the Guinness Book of Records through this character for being the shortest actor (86 cm height) to play a full-length character in a film.

Synopsis

Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadheesh and Indrans work for the Indian Navy, who later reach a sea shore of an unknown island as a result of shipwreck. There, they find two of their colleagues killed by the dwarfs and decide to take asylum in the village's temple so they won't be found.

Vinod (Pritviraj) is in love with Aswathy (Karthika Mathew) a member of the Lakshmipuram royal family, which has many dark secrets. Vinod hires Indu(Meenakshi) to babysit Ammu. Later the family members understand that Indu is also possessed by an evil spirit.

Jayadeva Sharma hails from an aristocratic Brahmin family. However his family's fortunes disappears and he is fostered by a goldsmith. Near the climax on Athira's wedding day, Jayadevan is held hostage by Ananthapadmanabhan and is saved by Premadasan. At the end Athira's fiancé is caught and Athira and Jayadevan unites.

The protagonist of the film is an orphan who takes care of his sister. For an operation of his sister, he needs money. He joins with a known con artist and tries to make money. The story circles around Sanjeev Kumar (Prithviraj) who is awaiting his selection into the police force. But it was being delayed by the then Police commissioner (Anandaraj) who is backed up by his political and underground relationships and has a grudge against Sanjeev's father.
