Ravikumar and written by Crazy Mohan, which is an Indian adaptation of the American comedy film, Mrs. Doubtfire. The film features Kamal Haasan in the lead role with Meena, Gemini Ganesan, Nagesh, Heera, Manivannan and Nassar. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Deva, while the film was produced by Ravindran and Hari. Avvai Shanmughi won positive reviews and performed well at the box office.
Synopsis
The film starts in a courtroom where a Brahmin woman Janaki (Meena) is fighting for divorce from her husband Pandian (Kamal Haasan). She offers various reasons for wanting a divorce. She has married Pandian against the wishes of her rich father Vishwanathan Iyer (Gemini Ganesan). But she isn't able to come to terms with living in Pandian's small house without amenities. Pandian is an assistant dance director with a modest income and is not able to spend much time with the family. All this accumulates and Janaki decides to apply for divorce, which is granted. The court orders that Pandian can meet his daughter Barathi, once a week and this is his only solace. His daughter, however, loves him a lot and doesn't like the arrangement.Acteurs

Après avoir terminé ses études, Padayappa revient dans sa famille. Il retrouve son père (Sivaji Ganesan), le très respecté zamindar du village. La riche et arrogante Nilambari tombe éperdument amoureuse de Padayappa, mais il lui préfère sa jolie servante Vasanthira. Se sentant insultée, elle lui voue une haine éternelle et jure sa perte. Dans le même temps, Sivaji Ganesan meurt et, suite à un complot, Padayappa et sa mère sont expulsés de la maison familiale. Ils se voient alloués un pauvre arpent de terre rocailleux comme seul héritage, mais notre héros promet qu’il aura sa revanche. Celle-ci se dessine très vite puisqu’il découvre du granit sur son terrain, et dix-huit ans plus tard le voilà devenu richissime. Mais Nilambari ne l’a pas oublié et compte bien se venger de celui qui l’a rejeté.

Thenali Soman (Kamal Hassan) is a man who fears anything and everything. Ambujakshi alias "Ambu" (Trisha), a film actress, arrives in Europe to spend the vacations with her friend Deepa (Sangeetha), a divorcee and her two children. Prasanna (Kamal Haasan) is nursed back to health by a classical singer Bhairavi (Srividya) after a bloody street-side fight. The two are slowly drawn to each other and decide to marry in spite of their age difference and a past relationship that Bhairavi is still inextricably tied to. In the meantime, Prasanna's father, Mahendran (Major Sundararajan) embarks on a relationship with the young Ranjani (Jayasudha). Naattamai (Sarathkumar) is a very kind-hearted, disciplined man. He sits on the ancestral throne in his village to do justice (similar to panchayat). He hears all the cases and gives solutions and punishments to the wrong-doers. His wife, Khushboo admires and respects him a lot. His brothers Pasupathi (sarathkumar) and Raja Ravindra fear for him and also have a lot of respect for him as he has brought them up as his children. The young Sarathkumar marries Meena, daughter of an industrialist. She at first never liked Naatamai and her husband for being so timid before his brother but later transforms after knowing his greatness from her father.Raja Ravindra loves his paternal cousin(Ponnambalam)'s daughter (Sanghavi). In the flashback, Periya Naatamai(Vijayakumar) father of naatamai orders Ponnambalam to marry his servant's daughter whom he raped, though he is his sister's son. His brother-in-law shoots at him as he is disappointed by his verdict.Enraged Periya Naatamai gives his final verdict before dying to abandon their family and whoever visits his house will receive the same punishment and also not to share even a glass of water with them. Ponnambalam from then builds envy on his uncle's family and waits for an opportunity to take revenge on them. He plans to bring a lady (Subhashri) as a teacher to the school in the village and tells her to make young Sarathkumar fall for her. She does so to save her father who is in the hands of Ponnambalam. He kills her and makes the villagers believe that Sarathkumar has done this. Naatamai sentences 10 years of exile for his brother's family. Now Ponnambalam comes to know of his daughter's love and tries to kill Raja Ravindra with the help of his goons. Sarathkumar goes in rescue of him and pregnant Meena goes to Naatamai to convey this message. Manorama rushes to Nattamai and reveals the truth and tells that he punished his brother without committing any mistake. Naatamai takes revenge on Ponnambalam and dies on knowing that he gave a wrong verdict. Now younger Sarathkumar is shown taking the ancestral throne from his brother.
