It also features Akshay Kumar in a guest appearance. The film, produced under Dutta's husband Mahesh Bhupathi's production company, Big Daddy Productions and Eros International Media Ltd. was shot at locations in Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur. It was released on 29 April 2011. It was inspired by the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring Steve Martin. A sequel to the movie named Chalo China was set to be made in 2014 but postponed due to lack of financers.
Synopsis
Mihika Banerjee (Lara Dutta), a successful investment banker living in Mumbai, misses her flight to Delhi and needs to get there any way possible to meet her husband, Lt. Col. Vikram Rana (Akshay Kumar). She meets Manu Gupta (Vinay Pathak) and they discover the colours of India in their journey to Delhi. They go by road and train and the audience gets a chance to see both the large urban conglomerations and the small rural areas that make up India. During the journey, Mihika experiences various difficulties which she has never encountered in her high class life. When Mihika's money is stolen while she is buying a train ticket, she is forced to travel with Manu in the ordinary class in Jhunjhunu District. Thus the film revolves around Mihika's and Manu's journey amidst difficulties.Acteurs

In the beginning, we see Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), a call center executive who also teaches English, as the narrator. Pooja Singh (Kareena Kapoor) shows up outside his class and says she needs private tutoring. Without any hesitation, Jimmy quickly agrees as he has already fallen in love with her; he later finds out that Pooja's boss Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor) is the one who has to be tutored. As their love grows, Pooja reveals that she is only working for Bhaiyyaji to pay her debts so she can then go to Haridwar to scatter her father's ashes. They decide to steal Bhaiyyaji's money and run away. The couple succeeds in their mission, and Jimmy asks Pooja to guard the money while he goes to the call center to tell them he is leaving.

Young Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) lives with his elder brother, Rohit his sister-in-law Kiran, and a niece. After an accident fractures his leg, he is unable to walk for some time. Due to psychological reasons, he cannot walk even after the fracture heals. When the Malhotras move to Dehra Dun, Raj befriends their neighbour, young tomboy Kajal (Lara Dutta), as both share a common passion for aeroplanes. Kajal encourages Raj to walk, and he succeeds. Years later the two continue to be fast friends, and everyone expects them to marry soon. Raj secretly loves Kajal and is waiting for the right time to propose her. However, Kajal sees him only as her best friend. Raj is recruited by the Indian Air Force and goes for training for a year and a half. After his training gets over, he rushes to Kajal to propose her, only to find out that she has given her heart to a multimillionaire, Karan Singhania (Aman Verma). Raj tells Kajal that Karan is the best life partner for her, but does not reveal his true feelings. Kajal and Karan get married and during the reception party, Kajal comes to know about Raj's feeling for her. Hurt by the fact that she did not see his feelings for her despite being Raj's best friend, Kajal asks him to move on in his life as now she is a married woman. Thereafter the Malhotras move to Nainital, and Raj relocates to Cape Town for training.

The film starts off with Inder Bhalla(Abhishek Bachchan), an aspiring song composer getting kicked out of his house by his father, Bhajanglal (Rishi Kapoor). Bhajanglal runs a bakery that doesn't really "run". He wants Inder to work at the bakery, but due to Inder's ambitions on becoming a successful song composer, he clearly refuses. Bhajanglal finds this an insult and sends Inder out of his house thinking that he is arrogant and selfish. This makes Inder hate his father forever but somewhere inside his soul, Bhajanglal still has love for his son. Inder travels to Thailand with his friend Ronny(Sumeet Vyas) who is also an ambitious song composer. Inder misses his mother, Pummy Bhalla(Supriya Pathak) but hasn't talked to her in many years. Suddenly, Inder gets a phone call from Cheema(Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub). Cheema lies to Inder that his father has sold his bakery and wants him to get his share. Unknown of this lie Inder leaves everything and flies back to India. At the airport he hugs his girlfriend, Nimmi(Asin) goodbye unknown that she is also travelling to India on the same flight. When Inder and Nimmi reach India they catch the same taxi as Nimmi wants to visit Inder's place. Inder drops Nimmi at his place and then goes to Cheema. There he sees his father has been abducted by Cheema and his goons. Inder comes to learn of the real truth that over the years his father borrowed lots of money from Cheema due to house needs but couldn't return it. Cheema warns that if wants himself and his father to stay alive then he better arrange money. Inder and Bhajanglal go home to think of something. There Inder finds out that his mother is suffering from Alzheimer's and Bhajanglal sent her to an ashram. Inder thinks that his father was very selfish but he hasn't learnt the truth yet. Inder, Bhajanglal, Pummy and Nimmi take a road trip to try to run away from Cheema. They go to a bank on their way and want to take Pummy's brother's money that Pummy has right on. Pummmy obviously has lost her memory so Bhajanglal has to sign the form. There, Inder learns that his father has divorced his mother. This causes his hatred for his dad increase. Bhalanglal tells Inder that it wasn't his fault and the dark truth behind his and Pummy's divorce. The film goes in flashback. After what he has learnt, Inder realises that his father was always innocent and starts loving him again. Inder sell all his songs that he had composed to pay back Cheema, gets his parents married again, marries Nimmi, and renovates his and his father's bakery. The film ends with Inder, Nimmy, Bhajanglal and Cheema (now their friend) working at the bakery and making lots of money.
