Love 86 is a 1986 Bollywood film directed by Esmayeel Shroff and starring Tanuja, Govinda, Rohan Kapoor, Farha Naaz and Neelam.

Synopsis

Laxmidevi (Tanuja), a strict disciplinarian, wants her daughters, Leena (Farha Naaz) and Esha (Neelam Kothari), to marry brothers from a wealthy family, so that both girls can stay in the same household. But Leena and Esha fall in love with Omi (Rohan Kapoor) and Vicky (Govinda)respectively. The boys are poor orphans who have taken to petty crimes in order to survive. How the matter is resolved forms the rest of the story.

Gangadhar Choudhary rules a small community in rural India with an iron hand, and will never permit anyone to speak up against him. He owns most of the land surrounding his palatial home - save for the small patch of land owned by Veer Singh. He summons Veer to his house, and offers him substantial compensation for his land, but Veer refuses, and the Gangadhar has him killed. Years go by, Suraj grows up joins the Indian Armed Forces, and after a meritorious career, he resigns and returns home to avenge his father's death. What he does not know that he must first come to terms with the local Police Inspector Iqbal Khan, and then the wealthy Collector of the District, Rajpal Chauhan, before he can even think of touching a single hair of Gangadhar Choudhary.

This film is remake of famous Kannada film Gejje Pooje starring Kalpana. Courtesan Madame Subbalaxmi heads a household where men are not born, but are welcome. Women are not welcome, but their birth is. Subbalaxmi is thrilled when her protege, Sangeeta, gives birth to a baby girl, who they name Chandra. Shortly thereafter they relocate to a small community. Sangeeta wants Chandra to study, and she is allowed to do so. Chandra meets her neighbor, Kunal, and their family, and is welcomed by them. Problems arise when Kunal and Chandra fall in love, as neither Kunal's family, nor Chandra's courtesan family will permit this marriage.
