Obligé de fuir Thoothukudi, pour des raisons politiques et surtout, après avoir abattu un policier, meurtrier de son père, un activiste, le jeune Vélou (Kamal Hassan) finit par échouer à Bombay, dans un bidonville tamoul. Là, un vieux pêcheur musulman le prend sous son aile et lui apprend les ficelles du métier. En grandissant, Vélou prend conscience des brimades et des injustices faites à sa communauté. Il décide d'y mettre un terme, le jour où, il supprime, dans le sang et la violence, un représentant de l'ordre corrompu et à l'origine de tous les malheurs. Il devient dès lors, Vélou-Nayagar, le "parrain-justicier" pour ses compatriotes, les protégeant, face à toutes formes d'injustice, durant plusieurs décennies, tel un ange exterminateur.. Le héros finira par se brûler les ailes.

Dhil is the story about Kanagavel (Vikram) whose only dream is to become a police officer. He succeeds in passing the exams and wins a girlfriend, Asha (Laila). One night after having dinner at a restaurant near the beach Velu goes to pay the bill leaving Asha behind. At that moment a corrupt police officer Shankar (Ashish Vidyarti) drinks and behaves indecently to Asha. He then attempts to assault her but is beaten up by Velu severely and receives a scar on his face. Angered by this he seeks revenge against Velu. The rest of the story shows how Velu fights Shankar and his goons finally killing the corrupt policeman.

Après avoir terminé ses études, Padayappa revient dans sa famille. Il retrouve son père (Sivaji Ganesan), le très respecté zamindar du village. La riche et arrogante Nilambari tombe éperdument amoureuse de Padayappa, mais il lui préfère sa jolie servante Vasanthira. Se sentant insultée, elle lui voue une haine éternelle et jure sa perte. Dans le même temps, Sivaji Ganesan meurt et, suite à un complot, Padayappa et sa mère sont expulsés de la maison familiale. Ils se voient alloués un pauvre arpent de terre rocailleux comme seul héritage, mais notre héros promet qu’il aura sa revanche. Celle-ci se dessine très vite puisqu’il découvre du granit sur son terrain, et dix-huit ans plus tard le voilà devenu richissime. Mais Nilambari ne l’a pas oublié et compte bien se venger de celui qui l’a rejeté.

Antony Varghese (Mohanlal) is a police officer who has been sent to a school as a teacher in disguise, to get details about the notorious Roy Mamman((Nassar)) who is behind terrorist attacks in the city. Sasirekha (Maheswari) is the daughter of a rich father (Jayaprakash Reddy), who is a strict disciplinarian and hates any kind of love affair. Ravi (Ravi Teja), an orphan falls in love with Sasi and she also slowly develops feelings for Ravi. One day Ravi meets Sasi’s father in the outskirts of the city and tells him all about his love. However, he is accidentally killed by Ravi in a scuffle. Sasi soon finds out that the real culprit is Ravi. Infuriated, she breaks-up with him. Ravi, unable to bear the rejection, jumps from a hill. He escapes death, only to be told by the doctors that he is disabled and might cure in future if someone takes care of him. In the climax sasi decides to stay with ravi who is nothing but a vegetable now, stating that what ever he did was just because of his love for her and she still is in love with him.

Bruce Lee (Jiiva) is a martial arts specialist but unluckily he is unable to use those skills to make a living. Instead, he falls in love with Police Deputy Commissioner Gaurav's (Nassar) daughter Shakthi (Pooja Hegde), and tries to impress her and her elder sister's kids with his martial art skills. To make it more fun for them he pretends to be a superhero by wearing on a costume each time he visits. On his way back on one such visit, Lee finds himself caught in between cops and robbers chase in the city. He decides to assist the police and manages to nab one robber from the gang and hands him over to the police. Lee doesn't realize that by doing so he has asked upon himself the revenge of Dragon (Narain) who heads the same gang. As the police were involved too, Dragon eyes to take revenge on Police Commissioner Gaurav also. Dragon then connives a plan that eventually frames Lee as a robber and the attempted to kill the Police Commissioner. What lies ahead for Lee now is to prove his innocence to the Police, win his love back Shakthi and more importantly bring Dragon and his gang to justice.
