Polladhavan (Tamil: பொல்லாதவன்; English: Ruthless Man) is a 1980 Tamil film directed by Muktha V. Srinivasan which stars Rajinikanth, Lakshmi and Sri Priya in the lead roles.It was a remake of 1976 Kannada movie Premada Kanike. It was also dubbed in Hindi as Dushmanon ka Dushman (Hindi: दुश्मनों का दुश्मन; meaning Enemy of the Enemies).

Synopsis

Lakshmi is traveling with her nephew to an estate to attend her job interview as a nanny to the estate merchants daughter. There is a suspicious looking man seated in front of her, at a point in the journey he tries to rape her but suddenly he is shot dead. Lakshmi sees the murderer (Rajinikanth) and clearly remembers his face and reports the murder to the police (Delhi Ganesh). Then she is appointed for the nanny position and she and the merchants daughter grow fond of each other.

Vijay (Rajnikanth), a merchant navy officer, comes home on leave to meet his sister Selvi (Saritha) and her husband Vishwanthan (Delhi Ganesh) but finds them missing. In his search for them, he bumps into Chitra (Radha) who falls in love with him. With Chitra's help, Vijay is able to find Selvi, but is shocked when he learns that her husband has vanished and she has stopped speaking. Unable to make Selvi speak but determined to resolve her troubles, Vijay with the help of his friend Vidyasagar (Y.G. Mahendran) discovers that Vishwanathan had testified in court against a dangerous criminal and is being held hostage by his associates. Vijay decides to disguise himself as a smuggler and gets into the underworld. Whether he is able to retrieve Vishwanathan and bring normalcy to Selvi's life forms the rest of the story.

The title of the movie Aayiram Poi (ஆயிரம் பொய்) means A 1000 lie in Tamil. Cho Ramaswamy Famous Novel "yaaro Iver Yaaro". An old Tamil saying goes like "Its alright to tell a 1000 lies to make a marriage work" and this movie closely follows that old adage. Chinnadurai intensely dislikes his Brother-in-law, Kanakasabai owing to an insult in the past. Mohan (Muthuraman) is the eldest son in a middle-class family, having superior complex that he should be first in every thing. He and Radha (Jayalalitha) fall in love. They get married. Mohan works in a low wage job which is insufficient for the family. So, Radha decides to join as sales officer and start working in a company. Her hard work earns her good name and promotion in job. So, her respect in family rises as it improves the economic status of the family and she is able to fulfill the needs and wants of the family. Mohan is intolerable seeing Radha's respect growing, he starts hating her. Then, Radha decides on Mohan's sister Suseela's wedding. Mohan decides to earn a lot of money by hook or by crook to take revenge on Radha. He earns money by modelling and then makes Radha step out of their home. Suseela's marriage is about to stop. Whether Radha succeeded in conducting her marriage or not reveals the crux of the story.
