Rakkayi Koyil is a 1993 Tamil village drama film directed by Manivasagam. The film features Selva and Kasthuri in lead roles with an ensemble supporting cast including Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil,The film, produced by Rajeswari Manivasagam and P.S. Mani, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 5 February 1993.

Vaanavaraayan (Rajinikanth) plays the role of a feudal chieftain, adored and respected by his village people. He lives with his grandparents (M. N. Nambiar & Manorama). Following his advice, they abstain from voting in the elections and instead, pool the money given by the candidates to get themselves some basic amenities. Vallavaraayan (Napoleon) is his arch enemy. Their enmity is further sharpened when Vaanavaraayan wins the hand of Vaitheeswari (Meena), whom Vallavaraayan had also wished to wed. So Vallavaraayan convinces the priest at the temple to mix a poison in the holy water that Vaitheeswari drinks. As a result she becomes incapable of conceiving. But surprisingly, Vaitheeswari soon becomes pregnant-though she has pretended with the help of the mid-wife (S. N. Lakshmi), to do so to uphold her husband's honor. She takes poison and kills herself unable to bear the grief of being incapable of giving her husband a child and on her deathbed makes Vaanavarayan swear to take Ponni (Aishwariya) as his wife. Vaanavarayan however refuses until Ponni agrees to marry Sembattai (Thalapathi Dinesh)- Vallavarayan's hechman-who abandons her to Vallavarayan's vice. Infuriated Vaanavarayam attacks Vallavarayam and spares his life after giving him a sermon on how to win the heart of people.

Parijatham (Kushboo) was a famous folk dancer in her village and many rich landlords tried to woo her. Parijatham's mother Pattamma wanted a son-in-law who will let Parijatham dance after the marriage. She finally got married with another folk dancer Palanisamy (Sivakumar). Palanisamy's brother Kottaisamy (Selva) was a good for nothing young man who spent his time with Kattamuthu (Goundamani). Later, Parijatham changed Kottaisamy into a responsible person. He got married with the folk dancer Mala (Abhirami). Rumors around Parijatham and the rich landlord Naicker (Vinu Chakravarthy) became more intense. Palanisamy could not bear this rumor and split up with the pregnant Parijatham. One day, Kattamuthu's sister was raped by a rich landlord, she then committed suicide and Kottaisamy ridiculed the rapist in public. After this incident, the rapist joined forces with the other landlords, they prevented Kottaisamy to dance for the village festival. So Kottaisamy and Mala struggled to survive, Mala eventually died during a dance show and Kottaisamy became a drunkard. In the meantime, Palanisamy brought up alone his baby son and Parijatham stopped to dance.

Jalagandeswaran (Goundamani) and Rayappan (Senthil) are brothers and house owners of a small colony. The tenants refuse to pay up their rents, knowing that the houses were built on State land. Rayappan has the idea to rent a vacant house to Usha (Gouthami), a beautiful company manageress. Usha is married to a middle-aged man Sundaram (Vijayakumar). The couple move into their new house and befriend with the neighbours. The married neighbours Jalagandeswaran, Viswanathan (Janagaraj), Ganesan (Delhi Ganesh) and Coimbatore (Manivasagam) fall in love with the beautiful Usha. They begin to woo the young woman. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
