Santaan is a 1993 Indian Bollywood film directed by Dasari Narayana Rao and produced by D. Rama Naidu. It stars Jeetendra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Deepak Tijori and Neelam Kothari in pivotal roles. The film was a remake of director's own Telugu film Surigaadu.

Suraj and Malti are in love and get very intimate. They are introduced to their respective families, and there is approval all round, and their marriage is to be finalized soon. Before that could happen, Suraj meets with an accident and is killed instantly, leaving Malti devastated. Malti's dad, Charandas, is shocked to find that Malti is pregnant, and both of them re-locate to a secluded area, where Malti's gives birth to a baby boy. Charandas has the child disposed off in a garbage can, and tells Malti that the child died. Malti recovers and subsequently marries Mr. O.P. Bakshi, and settles down. Years later, while watching a dance show with her husband, Malti sees a young man who resembles her husband in every shape and form. She attempts to make inquiries, but is afraid of what her husband will think when he finds out that the young man is her son, born out of marriage. The young man is Jyoti, who was left in a garbage can at the time of his birth, but is now a dreaded, ruthless, and much feared criminal don, going by the name of Jwala.

Kamal Haasan is a huge liar he use to lie everyone in his village for money. One day a fire erupted in a function in a village his father was badly injured he tried to convince doctor and other villagers to come and help him save his father but due to his lying habit no one believed him eventually his father died due to no medical care. Next day he end up at his daughter's home who was married his in laws let him stay in house in return of helping in home chores but he ends up as full time maid he use to get rotten food to eat .One day when his in law had an accident he held him responsible for being very unlucky for him and the whole family. next day when he was sent to buy groceries he saves a blind women from thugs he ends up with losing all the groceries, when he went home he got insulted by his own sister because she did not believe his story and thought that he must have spent the money for himself. Later he was given a task to repair an family clock which he accidentally breaks, to buy a replica of the watch he took part in a race to earn some money. He won the race and bought the clock but when he went home he gets beaten by his in laws because his sister's husband had lost his job and he again blames him for being so unlucky his sister cannot tolerate this and just asks her brother to go away and leave the house. He comes to know that the blind girls mother is seriously ill so he brings a doctor but it was too late and her mother died. Story shifts to Sanjeev Kumar a superstitious rich man who was losing his everything in betting and gambling. one day he encountersKamal Haasan while going for a bet and he wins the bet very first time in his life he brings him home as he finds him lucky, as Sanjeev Kumar has no kids he adopted Kamal Haasan after various profitable deals. Kamal Haasan marries the blind girl and gives her treatment at a hospital for her eyesight she got her eye sight back and Sanjeev Kumar after a long time became father. Everything was going well until Kamal Haasan gets cancer due to eating rotten food for long term at his in laws house. Later he was blamed for poisoning his new born brother for inheritance but when his mother get to know that he is already suffering from cancer, she was sorry later her own brother was guilty and then Kamal Haasan dies in his parents arms. It is a beautiful movie and has a sad ending.

Shankar (Chiranjeevi) and Revathi are siblings and are orphans. To feed his hungry sister Shankar steals a bread from a nearby tea stall, at the same there is another orphan (Kalyan Chakravarthy) boy who is also hungry looking at them, Shankar gives him a piece of bread. Shankar takes up the responsibility of raising his younger sister and also the orphan. Shankar does everything possible to earn bread and butter for them, and slowly he transforms from a small time thief to a small time gang leader. During this time he helps a village near by, who treats him like god. Once he bashes up Dada's (Kaikala Satyanarayana) men, an impressed Dada offers him to work for him. But Shankar rejects to work for him but when dada offers him partnership then he accepts the proposal. Apart from crime Shankar is also a good dancer and he teaches dancing too, Radha is a big fan of him. She falls in love with him to sing a couple of quick duets. Shankar realizes that Revati is in love with Kalyan Chakravarthy and he does their wedding. Kalyan Chakravarthy becomes a police officer with the help of Shankar, in one of the crimes he gets some info regarding Dada's involvement. Kalyan Chakravarthy asks Shankar's help in eliminating Dada's group without knowing that Shankar is a partner in the same crime syndicate. Then Shankar decides to quit Dada's company and conveys the same to Dada. Dada accepts the proposal but he says that he is not responsible if his brother in law dies in his hands. So Shankar drops the idea of leaving Dada's company, Dada makes him the head of the syndicate. Raghu Varan and Mohan Babu are not happy with this, so they talk another gang to eliminate Shankar and Dada. Mean while Kalyan Chakravarthy and Revathi comes to know that Shankar is criminal, they question him on that front. He tries to explain what scenarios led him to this. But they leave him. Mohan Babu, Raghu Varan and their new gang attacks and kills Dada and villagers whom Shankar helps. Angry Shankar kills all goons and surrenders himself to his brother in law. This film did not do very well but had good collections due to chiranjevi's prowess action and energetic dance , this is the only movie in the combination Chiranjeevi and Dasari. Dances and songs are very good and they are captures very well. Top among them are Jivvumani konda gali and Padaharella vayasu padi padi leche mansu.
