The music was composed by Khayyam and the lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Despite an all-star cast, it did not succeed at the box office.
Synopsis
Seth Dhanpath Rai (Sanjeev Kumar) is the country's most powerful smuggler who is surrounded by his fortress of power and money. His daughter Sonia (Poonam Dhillon) falls in love with Ravi Malhotra (Shashi Kapoor), a police officer and wants to marry him. Dhanpath Rai very soon realizes that his son Vicky (Randhir Kapoor) has also taken a path that goes against the one he travels. Vicky has been engaged to a pretty but poor girl (Swaroop Sampat). Now the question begins to haunt Seth Dhanpat rai - "What is more important: His children's happiness or what he is, i.e. power and money?" Dhanpath Rai's question is answered soon.Acteurs

Nima (Rekha) and Balraj Kohli (Shashi Kapoor) are happily married middle aged couple, living in rich neighborhood of Mumbai. They have two boys,eldest was Sagar(Raj Kiran) and youngest was Babbu. Things seem to go smoothly and Sagar falls in love with medico Sarita (Poonam Dhillon), who easily gains the approval of Sagar's parents. Slowly story reveals that Nima was Balraj's second wife and not actually the biological mother of Sagar. Balraj was the husband of Sharada (Raakhee) who was elder sister of Nima. When Nima lost her husband in an accident, immediately after her marriage, shocked Sharada falls off the stairs, damaging her head. She had been in a mental institute since 14 years. As Balraj had no one to manage his household in the absence of Sharada, Nima stays there to look after Balraj and seven year old Sagar. Seven years after the accident, Sharada and Nima's father, hopeless of Sharada's recovery, convinces Balraj and Nima to get married.

The story is about the misunderstandings develops between the brothers Inspector Vinod S. Kumar (Rajesh Khanna) and Ravi S. Kumar (Rishi Kapoor). Their father Satish, a photographer, was murdered when Vinod was 3 years old and his mother Sudha was pregnant with Ravi. When the children grow up, Vinod becomes a police inspector and Ravi becomes a criminal working for a don named J.D. Raj Kumar Gupta (Sanjeev Kumar) gives up his first love Shanti (Waheeda Rehman) to marry a wealthy heiress Kamini (Gita Siddharth) who is the daughter of Seth Dindayal. Shanti comes by to wish him success on his marriage with the news that she is carrying his child and moving away. She gives birth to a boy and names him Vijay. She raises him to adulthood. After she dies, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) comes to Delhi to take revenge by destroying his father's business and family connections. Shekhar (Shashi Kapoor) and Kusum (Poonam Dhillon) are Vijay's half-siblings who are caught in the crossfire of Vijay's revenge. Vijay also crosses paths with Geeta (Raakhee), the devoted secretary of Gupta and another company's general manager Sheetal (Hema Malini) who is also the daughter of the owner of the company. When Geeta is fired Vijay hires her. He tries to create differences between Shekhar and Sheetal. Vijay also takes all the good deals which resulted in losses for Raj. He even encourages Kusum to marry Ravi (Sachin) against her father's wishes which enrages Shekhar and he ends up fighting with Vijay. But Geeta comes and tells the truth. Shekhar and Kusum leave Raj. Raj in anger tells Balwant (Prem Chopra) to kill Vijay. Later Vijay comes down and tells him that he is Raj's son and leaves. Raj tries to stop Balwant but he had already left and kidnapped Ravi in order to get to Vijay. Vijay, with the assistance of Shekhar and Raj, rescues Ravi. Balwant aims at Vijay but Raj comes in between and thus Raj is shot in the process by Balwant. Before dying Raj asks for forgiveness. Vijay forgives him and unites with the family. In addition, Vijay changes the name of his company from Shanti Constructions to Shanti-Raj Constructions.

Three unmarried sisters live in a remote village in Himachal Pradesh with their old mother, Jugni (Waheeda Rehman), a former nautanki (folk theatre) dancer, who sells spices and takes in boarders to make a living. The three daughters are named like flavors in food. The 'salty' eldest daughter Nimki (Sharmila Tagore), is a reserved spinster, quietly but firmly holding the household together. The 'sweet' middle sister is Mitthu (Shabana Azmi) who cannot speak, but is revealed to be an intelligent and romantic girl. The 'tangy' youngest one is Chinki (Kiran Vairale), a bold and vibrant teenager, who turns out to be more perceptive than one would credit her to be. Dr. Sunil Gupta (Sanjeev Kumar) lives a wealthy lifestyle with his wife, Aarti (Raakhee). After several years of marriage the couple still struggle to bring a child to the world. Aarti decides to take a break and visits their Khandala bungalow, which is near her sister Vidya's (Bindu) house, where she lives with her husband (Sujit Kumar) and their son Raju. Aarti's bungalow is being decorated by Vinod (Shashi Kapoor), who was hired by Vidya and whom she remembers as a fellow from college, both spend considerable time together. Knowing that Aarti is basically alone, Vinod tries to pursue her. After an intense scuffle, Aarti accidentally kills him. Vidya assists Aarti in disposing off his body. However, a few days later, Sunil comes to Khandala and brings home a man who claims that he has lost his memory. The man is none other than Vinod - and Sunil's diagnosis indicates a gradual recovery for Vinod at the end of which he will regain his memory. The story deepens as Vidya and Aarti try to prevent this from happening.
