Rafi Mecartin are an Indian screenwriter and film director duo best known for their comedy films in Malayalam cinema. Rafi and Mecartin have been working together since the initial days of their career. Rafi's younger brother Shafi is also a well-known director.
They scripted and directed successful films such as Puthukottyile Puthu Manavalan (1995), Superman (1997), Punjabi House (1998), Thenkasipattanam (2000), Chathikkatha Chanthu (2004), Pandippada (2005) and Hallo (2007), China Town (2011). The duo has also written the scripts for Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava (1995), Aadyathe Kanmani (1995), Dilliwala Rajakumaran (1996), One Man Show (2001), Thilakkam (2003), and Mayavi (2007) among others, for other directors.

Four friends bought a casino and were celebrating the profit with their family when an underworld don, Gowda (Pradeep Rawat), who used to have a monopoly on the casinos in Goa, intrudes. Xavier (Mohanlal), one of the friends, held out against the don. Although he was killed, he managed to hold off the gang long enough for all of their wives to escape with the children. Wilson Gomus (Captain Raju) is the only of the friends to survive and he settled in Goa with his daughter, Emily.

Kannan and Dass are two famous rowdies in their village. Dass has a sister called Uma with whom Manikkampillai (shortened as 'Mapillai') is in love but she is not interested in him. Mapillai joins Kannan's and Dass' firm KD & Company as the manager, in an attempt to win the love of their sister. KD & Company once keeps as hostage a music troupe who comes to their village to perform. The main singer of that troupe, Sangeetha gets expelled from her home because of this and so Kannan and Dass gives her refuge upon insistence from Uma. Meenakshi is the childhood friend of Kannan with whose father, both Kannan and Dass has enmity.

Kannan and Dasappan are two rowdies in their village. Shathrugnan. a newcomer, is in love with Dasappan' s sister, Devootty, but she is not interested in him. Shathru joins Kannan's and Dasappan's firm, KD & Company, as the manager, in an attempt to win the love of Devootty. Nithya (Shobana) is the deputy commissioner of the city who lives with her Valliyachan (Janardhanan) since both her parents were killed in an accident. She was put on to investigate a corruption case done by the Home Minister and his friend a business man called Rajan Phillip (Cochin Haneefa). Unknowingly she was helped in the investigation by a criminal nicknamed Superman (Jayaram). Superman aka Harikrishnan nurtures a vendetta with the home minister and rajan phillip and uses Nithya to trap his enemies. In the whole process Superman uses Judiciary as his weapon, by providing vital evidences to Nithya at times in order to collect evidences Superman himself breaks the law, but as it is for the greater good it is forgiven by Nithya in the end.

Small time criminal, Mahi (Mammootty) gets released from prison early. He has a reputation of beating up his rivals in the darkness. Mahi wants to help fellow inmate Balan's (Manoj K. Jayan) whose brother Satheesh (Manikuttan) is in need of money for a life saving operation.
