The film narrates the incidents in the life of a gynaecologist and five women who come into his life each with unconventional/illegitimate pregnancies. Lal acts as the gynaecologist and Asha Sharreth does the role of doctor's wife. Sanusha plays the role of an eighteen-year-old girl who refuses to abort her child and reveal the child's father. In the end, she gives her baby to the gynaecologist and his wife who don't have children of their own. After some months, she visits the doctor's house and leaves him a book. And from reading one of the story in the book that she specially marked he figures out that she bore the child of her father. Rima's character is a nurse, while Geetha plays an elderly woman who gets pregnant through artificial insemination. Aju Varghese appears as Ajmal who has strong feelings for Fatima. However, due to their height difference, he is unable to confide his love for her. Sandra Thomas plays the role of another expectant woman who bears her boyfriend's child which she wants to conceive only if her husband dies and Joy Mathew acts as her husband.

Four friends bought a casino and were celebrating the profit with their family when an underworld don, Gowda (Pradeep Rawat), who used to have a monopoly on the casinos in Goa, intrudes. Xavier (Mohanlal), one of the friends, held out against the don. Although he was killed, he managed to hold off the gang long enough for all of their wives to escape with the children. Wilson Gomus (Captain Raju) is the only of the friends to survive and he settled in Goa with his daughter, Emily.

The film is about the eventful history of Malabar during India's independence struggle. Venugopal (Mammootty), a rich young business man still considers Shivan as his mentor, who had helped him in his early days in Mumbai.At the time of his death, Shivan has asked Venu to take care of his younger brother Rajashekharan (Suresh Gopi), which Venu obeyed whole heartedly. Rajan was appointed as his manager and is treated more like his brother. On a visit to Rajan's house along with him, Venu meets Devi (Rupini). Venu expresses Rajan's sister about his wish to marry Devi, but changes his mind after realizing that she is already engaged to Rajan. Venu whole heartedly gets Rajan married to Devi. Rajan, in thirst to earn quick money, gets into bad company and severs ties with Venu. He becomes suspicious of his wife having an illicit relation with Venu. Slowly turning into too much of drinking and gambling, Rajan falls into huge debts and to make things worse, he also becomes a part of smuggling. Venu's efforts to save Rajan from his problems and bringing him back to normal life is the rest of the story.
