Au printemps 1999, des islamistes soutenus par des soldats de l'armée pakistanaise franchissent la Ligne de contrôle (Line of Controle : LOC) qui sépare l'Inde du Pakistan, s'emparant des hauteurs qui surplombent Kargil. L'armée indienne envoie sur place plusieurs unités pour reconquérir le territoire perdu, mais les combattants pakistanais résistent et s'engage alors une guerre d'autant plus meurtrière qu'elle se déroule entre 4 000 et 5 000 mètres d'altitude. Amrita (Juhi Babbar) is the adopted daughter of Yashwant Raj Mankotia (Om Puri). Amrita was actually the daughter of late Yashwant Raj's friend. His father says if he does not accept the marriage all his property will go to Amrita. Randeep agrees to the marriage. After the wedding, Randeep and Amrita travel to Canada. When they go to Randeep's house, Amrita meets Simone (Saadhika), Randeep's business partner/spouse. Simone and Randeep humiliate Amrita and she runs away. Randeep gathers some men and orders them to find Amrita and kill her. Amrita then hides in the garage of Jay Kumar (Sonu Nigam) who befriends her. Daljit (Dolly) Brar (Ravee Gupta) is the daughter of Jay's boss, and is jealous of the friendship between them so she fires Jay. Yashwant Raj misses Amrita so he goes to Canada to visit her. When Yashwant asks where Amrita is Randeep lies and says she has humiliated him by taking up alcohol. Yashwant doesn't realise that to get his daughter he has to kill a human being.

Hathyar is a narrative which probes into the household of Raghunath (Sanjay Dutt), a dreaded gangster. His bereaved son Rohit (Sanjay Dutt) has to face a lot of flak from the outside world, repeatedly reminding him of the stigma attached to his family because of his father's past. Just like his father, circumstances force Rohit to become a gangster and he gets the name Boxer Bhai. Rohit has weaknesses, he cannot stand any woman being called a prostitute, because his mom, Sonu was one, and he has fallen hard for a married woman, Gauri (Shilpa Shetty), who is enduring a marriage with a phsycially abusive spouse. Rohit snatches her out of this abusive relationshisp and remarries her. But Rohit's problems are far from over. There is a change in the political scenario and Rohit does not find support from any godfather. He is ordered to be arrested - dead or alive.

The story is about an orphan named Raju (Salman Khan) a business man in India. His mother died when he was very young, his father had already left him. At the airport, he meets Sonia Singh (Amisha Patel) who has too much luggage and tries to get Raju to hold it. Raju understands her plan, and it backfires on Sonia. The two then begin to believe they love each other. After this, Raju finds Rajesh and tells him the truth. He then finds out that Rajesh is already married to Smitha (Rati Agnihotri) and has two kids, Rinkie (Rinke Khanna) and Bunty. Rinkie is about to get married to Vicky (Sharad Kapoor) but she is unaware of his drug dealings. Raju gives Rajesh eight days to break the news to his family and call Raju his son or he’ll tell the family himself. After he leaves, Rajesh gets afraid, and hires gangsters to attack him. On his way out, Raju gets beat up by the hired gangsters, though later rescued by Shera (Sanjay Dutt), also an Indian living in London. He saves Raju from getting beat up, and helps him as well.
