It stars Kunchacko Boban and Shalini in the lead roles. The film tells a love story, about Sudhish Kumar (Kunchacko Boban) and Mini (Shalini) who fell in love despite being from two different religious communities. The music was composed by Ouseppachan with the lyrics by S. Ramesan Nair.
The film and the music was a trendsetter and was the Biggest Seller of the Year..Aniyathipravu was one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema. Fazil remade it into the Tamil film Kadhalukku Mariyadhai (1997) and Priyadarshan adapted the story for his Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1998).
Synopsis
Mini (Shalini) who is the apple of her mother's (KPAC Lalitha) and three brothers (Janardhan, Cochin Haneefa and Shajin)eye. She falls in love with Sudhi (Kunchacko Boban). But when her brothers know about it, hell breaks loose in both the houses. The lovers elope with the help of some friends. But when they are going to get married, they have a small talk and realise that the best thing they can do to prove their love is to go back to their parents. Gautham Prabhakar (Vijay) meets Dr.Rajasekhar (Raghuvaran), a psychologist, his daughter Hema (Shalini) and her friends, Surya (Charle) & Chandru (Dhamu). He has memories of a girl named Gayathri (Kaveri), whom he met briefly and wishes to find again. After examining his subconscious mind, Dr.Rajasekhar finds out that Gautham is suffering from split personality and has forgotten a lot of things, including the details of Gayathri's disappearance. Jeevanandhan "Jeeva" (Vijay) is a very rich young man. Although his parents (Sivakumar and Srividhya) want him to settle down, he goes to another city to do his MBA and stays with friends. During this time, he meets Mini (Shalini) and they fall in love. She reciprocates his feelings, but trouble comes in the form of her tyrannical trio of brothers (Raatha Ravi, Thalaivasal Vijay and Shaji Khan) who are over-protective of their little sister and take an irrational dislike to Jeeva. They show hostility towards Jeeva and conflicts arise within the households and the couple decides to elope, they go to Kesavan’s Hometown and Manivannan refuge them before the Proposed Wedding. Jeeva tries to convince his mother one last time and in vain. On the day of the wedding both realize they miss their families. They decide to return home, relinquishing their feelings, and the families are happy and take them back. Jeeva’s Mom wants to see Mini so that she can get a better wife for his son goes to meet Mini. Initially reluctant to welcome them, the brothers hesitate, but their mother is welcomes them, ultimately their families accept their love, and they are reunited.

Kunjoonjamma Thomas (Padmini) is a widow living in the village all by herself. People always make fun of her because she is grumpy and depressed due to the deaths of her husband and her only child. Sachin Madhavan (Fahadh Faasil) comes to a hill station where he meets a girl Sushma (Nikitha) and it is love at first sight. Later he comes to know that she stays with her aunt and comes from a broken family. Her father (Siddique) and mother (Revathy) are said to be separated and living abroad. They want to legally get divorced after their only daughter gets married. Sachin loves her deeply but never reveals his feeling, as he comes to know that her parents have fixed her marriage. Slowly Sushma too starts falling in love with Sachin.
