The film features Prabhu Deva, Abbas, Simran and Rambha in the lead roles, while Rami Reddy, Prakash Raj and Manivannan play other pivotal roles. Ranjit Barot composed the music, while Arthur A. Wilson handled the cinematography. This film was opened in July 1997 to above average reviews and collections.
Synopsis
Guru (Prabhu Deva) is a graduate but cannot find a job because employers are looking experience. He and his pickpocket and bike thief friend Indhu (Rambha) live along with an auto mechanic (Manivannan) and his wife. The couple is a Muslim and the lady wears a purdah and it is shown that whoever lifts her purdah and sees her face faints immediately. Manivannan himself has seen his wife's face only during their first night. This provides comic relief.Acteurs

When stuntman Sambandham (Kamal Haasan) and Dr. Janaki (Simran) come across each other at his brother Anand's (Abbas) and her best friend Malathi's (Sneha) hastily planned wedding ceremony, they instantly develop a dislike for each other. Tirupathi (Mammootty) is the eldest of four brothers and the head of a respected family in the village. He has struggled to bring his family out of poverty and put his other two brothers, Kannan (Abbas) and Surya (Shyam Ganesh), through college. His younger brother Madhavan (Murali) has provided able support. Tirupathi marries Bharathi (Devayani) who fits into the family admirably. Raja (Karthik) feels stifled under his strict father Col. Chandrasekhar (Jaiganesh) and when his father picks a girl he doesn't like for him to marry, it is the last straw and he runs away to Ooty. There he teams up with Vasu (Goundamani) and they come up with an ill-advised plan to kidnap Indu (Rambha), the daughter of Vishwanathan (Manivannan). Vishwanathan is in fact Col. Chandrasekhar's friend and it is Indu that Raja was supposed to marry. But Vishwanathan now mistakes Vasu to be his friend's son and takes him under his wing while Raja is hired to be his driver.

Pappu an eight-year-old boy who is very mischievous always troubling his mother. His mother scolds him when he eats the toothpaste, urinate in bed at night. Pappu falls down on a road one day and a young woman helps him. Pappu's elder brother plans to watch adults movie with his friends in the absence of their parents and Pappu wishes to join him to which his brother does not allow him. Angered, Paapu cuts off the power which creates a short circuit at home. Pappu's mother scolds for his dangerous mischief and shouts at her husband for not stopping with one child as Pappu is troubling her a lot. This hurts Pappu and he runs away from home to jump into a river. But he is stopped by an old man and he takes Pappu to his place. The old man introduces himself as a scientist who has his own laboratory. He insists Pappu to help him in his research of transforming a child to a young man. Pappu agrees and the scientist transforms him to a young man. Pappu starts to live as a young man physically but as a child mentally and stays away from his family. The only person other than scientist who knows the truth is his child classmate friend. Pappu meets the girl at a park who helped him once he fell down on road. Innocent child Pappu helps to remove dust from her eyes, smiles at her and leaves the place. The girl is very much attracted towards him and she looks for him every day.

Kutty (Vijay) wants to become a singer while working as a local cable provider run by Mani (Manivannan). His songs are appreciated by a college student Rukmani (Simran) and each time when she wishes to meet him, circumstances project him as a transitive element. He also becomes the cause for Rukmani losing her eyesight and repents for it. He starts to love her and he regularly writes to his mother about the development of love he has for Rukmani. When his mother dies (there is a beautiful emotional scene in toilet, which is a never-seen-before kind of thing), she offers her eyes to Rukmani. To meet the cost of the eye transplant, kutty offers his kidney to a Pune-based rich man. While returning home he inadvertently becomes an accomplice in creating explosives and he's arrested. Having regained her vision, Rukmani, who had studied for IAS, becomes a Collector and when Kutty tries to contact her, he is still the rowdy element in her mind. Finally the confusion is cleared after "Innisai Paadivarum" is played and they become lovers at the end as always.

Surya (Ajith) has been brought up in the army barracks in Ooty, ever since his mother(Sukanya) handed him over as a baby to a brigadier (Nasser). She tells the officer the reason for her action but the audience is not allowed to hear it at this point. Surya grows up to be a patriotic youth and the best soldier in his class. He falls in love with Indu (Simran), the daughter of an army officer. Indu's parents accept her choice of husband but soon after, her father dies in a bomb blast while her mother loses her life on seeing her husband's body. Not wishing to lose her husband too in war, Indu asks Surya to choose between her and the army.

The film opens with Arasu (Sarath Kumar) murdering a person in Mumbai. Later the story shifts to Kumbakonam where he is an assistant to a temple priest (Delhi Ganesh). Soon the priest’s daughter Meera (Simran) falls in love with Arasu. At the stroke of interval Arasu sheds his mask and murders a rowdy who is out from jail and this shocks everybody. Then in a flashback he tells that his father (Sarath Kumar) believes in taking law into his hands and thus had lot of enemies. When he confronts a bad guy (Sai Kumar) and humiliates him, the villains later kills Arasu’s father. The rest of the story is how Arasu takes revenge.
