It was the top grossing Hindi film in the year of its release, and one of the biggest Hindi film hit in its decade.[1]
Synopsis
After her widower dad, Kedarnath, passes away, Shobha goes to live with her fathers friend, Charandas and his wife, Shanta, who had their son go missing as a child. Years later Shobha is now matured and Charandas scouts for a suitable groom. A wealthy man, Sunder, would like to marry Shobha but the family detests him. Then one night Shobha is abducted. The Police are informed but their search is in vain. A few days later they get wind that Shobha may be in Sunder's custody, a search does prove to be in vain. Then Shobha returns home and tells them she was rescued by a wealthy man named Azaad, housed in a mansion, looked after very well, and brought back home all in one piece. They subsequently find out that the wealthy man is none other than a notorious bandit named Azaad. They are even more shocked when Shobha informs them that she wants to get married to Azaad.Acteurs

Le film se déroule dans la Rome antique à une époque où les Juifs sont persécutés par l'empire. Brutus (Nazir Husain) est accidentellement blessé au cours d'une parade en ville par le fils du joaillier juif Ezra (Sohrab Modi). Irascible et tyrannique, Brutus s'obstine à croire à un attentat et fait exécuter l'enfant en le faisant jeter aux lions dans l'arène du cirque. Pour tirer vengeance de Brutus, Ezra parvient à faire kidnapper sa fille, Lydia, encore enfant, qu'il renomme Hannah et élève comme sa propre fille. Devenue adulte (jouée alors par Meena Kumari), elle rencontre un homme dont elle tombe amoureuse. Mais elle ignore qu'il s'agit d'un prince romain, Marcus (Dilip Kumar), fils de l'empereur lui-même, et déjà destiné à un mariage arrangé avec la nièce de Brutus, Octivia (Nigar Sultana), qu'il n'aime pas.

Nisha lives a very wealthy lifestyle in Neelgaon, India, with her businessman dad, Sardar Roop Singh. She is now of marriageable age, and her dad wants her to marry his friend's son, Sohan, but Nisha dislikes him. While traveling to Darjeeling with a dance troupe, she meets with her dad's business associates' son, Popat Lal, and after a few misadventures, both fall in love with each other. She takes him to meet her dad where he can also finalize his business transaction, but when Roop comes inside, he finds that Popat has disappeared, and in his place is another man claiming to be the real Popat. Nisha's heart is broken and she starts to hate Popat. She does meet with Popat, who tells her that his real name is Sunder and both had been promised to each other by their respective parents, but Roop had subsequently changed his mind. Nisha believes him and agrees to marry him without her father's blessings. When the marriage is to take place, a man named Khanna comes over and tells Nisha that Sunder is already married to woman named Shanti, who he subsequently killed, and had been the primary accused in this case by the police. This is the story of two brothers and a father. The brothers are twins Arun Sharma (played by Rishi Kapoor), and Kewal Sharma (Actor Rajesh Leher look alike of Rishi Kapoor,who also played lead role in film " Subh Din "of Rajeshree Productions ), and the father is Major Hemraj Sharma (Pran), a war veteran who became disabled in the last war, and has to rely on crutches to walk. The Major has a soft corner for Kewal, but shows open disapproval of Arun, thus alienating him. He constantly asks Arun to make sacrifices for Kewal, including giving up his love, Rekha (Zaheera). Heartbroken Arun leaves his father's home and meets an old acquaintance who he had saved from committing suicide, Jyoti (Neetu Singh). Jyoti gets Arun a job at her dad's (Pinchoo Kapoor) Diwan Pratap chand's hotel. Here Arun meets with a hotel waiter who tells him that his mother is still alive. Arun is shocked to note this and asks his mother to accompany him to confront his father.

Twenty years ago, after killing his brother, Sardar Rajpal flees from his hometown in Shillong and re-locates to the rural area of Assam along with his adopted daughter, Meena. He asks his wife, Kamla, to send their son, Shankar, so that he can employ him and get him married to Meena. Shankar arrives and he is welcomed by Sardar who employs him and introduces him to Meena. A few days later another young man shows up at his door claiming to be Kamla's son. Kulwant Rai is a prominent and wealthy businessman. He relies solely on his son, Rakesh, to run his business.
