Synopsis
Dada Mohammed Sahib popularly called Dadasahib, is an old freedom fighter, and his son Abubacker is a former subeidar in the army. Bobby (Jayasurya) who is really poor and can't speak, earns living by painting billboards for his boss (Cochin Haneefa) along with his friends, falls in love at first sight with Gopika, while painting. Gopika (Kavya Madhavan) is a really rich girl who can't hear or speak, lives with her dad (Saikumar) in a mansion with her interpreter (Kalpana). During a show performed by Bobby (Jayasurya) and his friends, Gopika (Kavya Madhavan) starts to fall in love with Bobby, once she hears he also can't speak. But Bobby with the help of his friends pretends he can speak and puts on a show in front of Gopika's interpreter (Kalpana) and tricked her into believing it. Gopika was told he could speak and lost her love. In the end she gets to know Bobby really can't speak and she and Bobby fall in love. But she is supposed to marry Shyam (Indrajith),a rich and modern young man, who she hates. Gopika's family are against her relationship with Bobby so they elope.

Kasi is a tale about the deception of appearances. Kasi(Vikram) is a blind poet and singer who supports his family by his songs. He has an older brother Sevalai(Thalaivasal Vijay) who spends what money he has drinking, an abusive, crippled father and a younger sister Lakshmi(Kavya Madhavan). When the local landlord, Raghupathi(Rajeev) returns to the district, he brings along with him Mr Dinesh, the CM's son and his wife Radhika(Aishwarya). Raghupathi has a reputation as a God in the area because of his charitable works and when a specialist eye doctor arrives he promises to pay the fees for an operation to give back Kasi's vision. Elated by this news, Kasi learns that he has to find an eye-donor and his girlfriend Kaveri(Kaveri), who cannot speak, offers one of her eyes. Unfortunately, something happens that shows that the 'God-like' Raghupathi and Mr Dinesh are not what they seem. Blissfully unaware of the sadness of those around him, Kasi looks forward to his operation.

The protagonist of the film, Kuttan, is a thirty - year old man, but he has the intelligence of a ten - year old. People call him Karumadikkuttan as he is dark. Everyone has sort of affection for him and he too is always ready to do anything for anybody in the village. The remuneration that he gets for any job somehow is never above five rupees. But he works really hard when he is terribly hungry just for the sake of this meagre amount. And he has no complaint against anybody. People even ridicule him. But he thinks only of the positive aspect of things and has no grudge against anybody.

The filim begins with Major Rajendran (Suresh Krishna) being killed by the Pakistani terrorists in the Indo-Pak border and the war between India and Pakistan begins. Pakistani Army led by General Jaffer Khan (Mukesh Rishi) sends a battalion to capture a village on the Indian side of the Line of Control. Indian Army Brigadier Nayar (Captain Raju) sends the Madras Regiment to recapture the village. Madras Regiment contains Lt.Col Sharath Chandran (Prabhu), Captain Gopinath (Dileep), Major Prabhakar (Saikumar), Captain Kabir (Siddique), Captain Vijayan (Vijayaraghavan), Havildar Kurian (Jagadish), Private Basheer (Kalabhavan Mani), Naik Haneefa, Havildar Prashanthan, Naik Kunjunni (Machan Varghese), Captain Hema (Indraja) and Private Shankar. They recaptured the village after a fierce gun battle that killed all the Pakistani soldiers. Prabhakar and Kunjunni died during this battle. Jaffer Khan was angered by this defeat and hatched a plan to capture the entire Madrasi Regiment alive. He calls Colonel Mushtaq Muhammad, an ISI agent in the Indian Army and pays him 5 crores rupees for capturing the Madras Regiment.
