The movie is set into motion when a large cache of arms is discovered in the land belonging to the local businessman Hussein Sahib (Rizabawa). On investigation, Inspector Varma (Mukesh) finds that Hussein Sahib has no idea about this, but the land was used by someone called Anali Bhaskaran. The Inspector, along with his colleagues Sudhakaran (Jagadeesh) go to arrest Bhaskaran, but they are given a good fight. As the police are being beaten, the screen alternates between a police jeep appearing on the scene and Anali Bhaskaran trying to knife people. Suddenly a hand appears in the scene and beats Bhaskaran.

The film is the story about an Anglo-Indian family who lives in Kerala. Neil (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a disturbed youth working as a clerk in a factory for low wages. His intention is to become a writer. He lives with his mother (Sheela) and sister (Geetu Mohandas). His father was a Portuguese sailor who he left the family when the children were very young. Rose, his sister is slightly handicapped and because of this, she is always in the shell. She is very much interested in glass figurines. Margret, Neil's mother hates his care-free attitude towards life and his late-night movies. She is a very possessive mother and she is always worried about the future of her daughter. One day Neil invites his co-worker Freddy (Tom George Kolath) for a dinner at his home. Neil's mother and daughter thinks that Freddy will get interested in Rose and they can marry her off but their dreams get crushed when they comes to know that Freddie is already engaged and Rose passes away years later.

The film tells the story Unniyarcha, the valiant heroine of the Vadakkanpattu, though a member of the fairer sex, masters martial arts and proves herself as an equal to her brother Aromal Chekavar and cousin Chandu Chekavar, both renowned warriors. Unniyarcha is portrayed as the embodiment of all virtues. The film is about Daniel Thompson, a saxophone player who is a mute witness to many of the historical happenings taking place around in the world. But with the passage of time, Dany is abandoned by all and he finds himself destined to lead a desolate existence. He ends up in a hospital. And it is here that he meets Bhargavi Amma, a retired professor, who is also desolate after the death of her daughter and after being totally isolated in life. Dany and Bhargavi Amma develop an intimacy and they travel back together from the hospital. But Dany passes away on the way. Anyhow Bhargavi Amma decides to perform the funeral rites in the Christian manner in the compound of her house, a house of orthodox Hindus. This creates certain problems, but Bhargavi Amma decides to dare all such problems.

After buying the boat, Kochu Kunju had to face further problems; his boatmen were attacked and he himself had to lead the boat. However, the ultimate success is for Kochu Kunju.
