Jassy is a 1947 British film melodrama, based on a novel by Norah Lofts. It is a Gainsborough melodrama, the only one to be made in Technicolor.

Synopsis

A fine country estate has just been lost at the roll of a dice, and the Hatton family have to move out as the Helmars take possession.

(The plot summary is copied verbatim from the website "Britmovie".) Mr and Mrs Smedhurst (James Mason and Barbara Mullen) are a business couple wanting to retire. They find a mansion in the country, Bellingham House, at a bargain price. They move in along with their servants and soon learn the house is supposedly haunted – but Mr Smedhurst in particular is sceptical of the paranormal myth. They invite a young companion, Annette (Margaret Lockwood), to join them but within days of arriving she steadily begins hearing strange voices. The new owners learn that a young invalid girl was believed to have been murdered 40 years previously in the house – and their preconceptions of the supernatural are challenged.

After the Second World War, some British soldiers are guarding a theatre in Germany containing various refugees and prisoners trying to work out what to do with them. In the year 2015, spaceship IC-1 (Interstellar Colony #1) travels toward a planet similar to Earth to explore the possibility that the population problem on Earth can eventually be solved there. IC-1 's crew consists of Capt. Mead Ralston (Bill Williams), his wife Jan (Norma West), Drs.
