Love in Bombay (also marketed under the title Love in Mumbai) is a Hindi film produced and directed by Joy Mukherjee. The film was originally made in 1971 and starred Waheeda Rehman, Sonia Sahni, Rehman, Kishore Kumar, and Ashok Kumar. Joy Mukherjee had also worked in the hit films Love in Simla and Love in Tokyo. All the three films are part of Joy Mukherjee's Love in trilogy.
Love in Bombay was not released and was discovered by Mukherjee's son after his death in March 9, 2012. It was released on August 2, 2013, 42 years after it was made.
Synopsis
This film is a simple story of a village boy, Baadal (Joy Mukherjee) who meets a girl from the city, Preeti (Waheeda Rehman) in the most unusual circumstances and the couple eventually fall in love, and wish to get married only to find Preeti’s scheming father, played by Rehman and her fiancé, Roshan try all methods to separate the couple. There’s a lot of drama, jealousy, and a challenge that ensues, but Baadal ends up triumphant through it all. The most fun element was Kishore Kumar‘s character, Ganpat Rao who effortlessly makes you smile from the time he enters the scene. Then there’s the moment of unity for actor brothers, Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar which was heartwarming for more reasons than just their screen presence together.Acteurs

Shyam (Joy Mukherjee), an officer in the Indian army, is court-martialled for having committed a murder. He denies the charges but is stripped of his rank and de-mobbed. Professor Tao Ki Chen (Madan Puri), a Chinese spy, having framed Shyam for the murder, plays up to him and takes him to a shack near the India-China border. There Shyam overhears Chen talking to Lin Tan (Joy Mukherjee) a Chinese officer, who has had plastic surgery done to look like Shyam. The plan is for Lin to impersonate Shyam and try getting army secrets out. Somehow Shyam manages to kill Lin, and pretends to be Lin impersonating Shyam. He goes back to India and is re-instated in the army when he tells them about Chen’s nefarious planning. However he's told to continue playing the role of Lin. Lin's wife Sin Tan (Mala Sinha) comes to India with a Chinese Delegation brought by Chen, which leads to misunderstandings due to Shyam's girlfriend Leena (Sharmila Tagore) being present. Sin Tan thinks that Shyam is her husband Lin, changed to look like Shyam while Leena does not know about the subterfuge. She gets angry and jealous seeing Shyam and Sin Tan together. After several tension-filled protracted incidents Shyam manages to complete the task entrusted to him by his superiors. The film ends with Lin's wife going back to China and Shyam reuniting with Leena.

Vikram Singh (Amjad Khan) is framed for possession of drugs but claims he was framed by a business associate named Rajan (Sujit Kumar). After release from prison he kills Rajan and frames his former lawyer Amit (Amitabh Bachchan). Amit is forced to go on the run while his pregnant wife Janki (Waheeda Rehman) gives birth to twin sons Guru and Shankar (Both played by Amitabh Bachchan). Unfortunately she becomes separated from one of her sons Guru when her son is stolen by a barren couple. With her husband on the run and one son missing, Janki is forced to raise Shankar on her own. But Janki is living in another city with Shankar who has become a police inspector. Guru had been brought up by a barren couple and grows up to be a theatre actor and pursued by Rita (Zeenat Aman). Manju meets and falls in love with Shankar, unaware that he is Rana Ranveer's long lost son. At the end their lives interwine and all are reunited and become a family again.

Vijay (Guru Dutt), un poète, ne parvient pas à vivre de ses vers. On lui conseille d’écrire des poèmes d’amour, d’abandonner les réflexions pessimistes sur la nature humaine qui sont son thème de prédilection. Sa famille ne le soutient pas : ses frères vendent ses manuscrits à une usine de pâte à papier et le chassent de la maison. Vijay tente de racheter ses poèmes, mais le gérant de l’usine lui apprend qu’une femme en a fait l’acquisition. La nuit, alors que Vijay dort sur un banc public, il entend une femme, Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman) chanter un de ses textes. Il la suit, jusqu’à la maison close où elle officie. Lorsqu’elle s’aperçoit que Vijay est sans le sou, elle le chasse. En lisant un papier tombé de la poche du poète, elle réalise qu’il est l’auteur des poèmes qu’elle a achetés.

On a foggy night, Chandrashekhar (Navin Nischol), who is driving his car at high speed, meets with an accident. He walks to a nearby house to ask for assistance. When nobody answers the door, he enters the house and finds the dead body of a wheelchair-bound man. Standing nearby is a beautiful, young woman, Rani (Zeenat Aman), with a gun. She tells him that the dead man is her husband and she has murdered him. She asks Chandrashekhar to call the police. Intrigued, Chandrashekhar asks Rani to tell her what happened. She tells him that her husband, Thakur Ranjit Singh (Danny Denzongpa), was a cruel man who used to mistreat his family and used to shoot cats and dogs with his gun for amusement (which is why nobody in the house woke up upon hearing the gunshot). On this night, before Chandrashekhar arrived, they had an argument and when her husband threatened to shoot her, she tried to take the gun away from him. In the ensuing struggle, Ranjit got shot.

Brijmohan Sharma (Ashok Kumar) and his brothers Manmohan Sharma (Kishore Kumar) and Jagmohan Sharma (Anoop Kumar) run a garage. The eldest brother Brijmohan hates women and doesn't allow any women or pictures of them in his garage unless it is an emergency. One day, while Manmohan is on the night shift, Renu (Madhubala) comes to the garage seeking help as her car breaks down. Renu gets angry at Manmohan because he is sleeping when he is supposed to be on duty. Manmohan doesn't like the fact that Renu shouted at him and initially refuses to repair her car, but finally agrees. Manmohan fixes the car, and Renu leaves, forgetting to pay Manmohan for his services. He tells his brother Brijmohan about this and realizes that Renu forgot her purse in the garage. Manmohan goes through it and finds a pass to a concert. Manmohan goes to this concert to recover his money. When Manmohan reaches the venue, he is not allowed to enter as the pass has Renu's name on it. Not wanting to let go of his money, Manmohan waits in Renu's car and to meet her when she comes out. He, however, falls asleep and Renu doesn't notice him; she drives home and parks in her garage with Manmohan in the car. When Manmohan wakes up, he gets hungry and looks for some food in Renu's garage. A servant in the house sees this and chases Manmohan, who manages to escape. On his way home, he notices a few men dumping a dead body on the road and fleeing. When he tells his brothers about his night the next morning, they have a hearty laugh at his expense.

Mrs. Verma's harassment of Sharda turns to tragedy when two relatives Darwazalal (Jeevan) and Shanta (Shashikala) come to live with them. Nina is also staying in the house with her sister. Darwazalal poison's Sharda who while dying makes Nina promise that she will marry Shekhar. After Sharda dies Nina and a distraught Shekhar get married. Shekhar has no interest in Nina as he is still grieving the loss of his beloved wife Sharda.
