In this convoluted plot, Diwan (Amrish Puri) , Dr. Kalidas (Kader Khan) and another secret person run a crime syndicate. They take insurance policies with fake identities and then fake their own deaths and claim insurance. Prem Krishan, a crime reporter, unearths this nefarious plan but is killed by Diwan. Prem Krishan's step brother Kailash is implicated in Prem Krishan's murder. Anand (Mithun Chakraborthy) is in search of his sister who married her lover without informing him, and has gone missing thereafter. When Anand finally finds her, she is in a mental asylum, her husband is reported dead and Anand's friend Prakash (Raj Babbar) finds evidence which proves that Kailash (Raaj Kumar) is again responsible for her husband's murder. As if his troubles are not enough, Kailash's step sister and Anand's girl friend (Dimple Kapadia) also has a low opinion of Kailash. Chased by cops and Anand, Kailash fakes his own death, but returns to town with a fake identity. After a series of badly scripted events, Kailash proves his innocence, Prakash turns out to be the secret third villain (who cheated Anand's sister) and all the bad guys are caught by police. Poor Anand does not get to protect his sister from villains, but no problem, the police inspector Saxena saves her.

After the mysterious disappearance of her maid, butler, and gardener, Mrs. Sandra Williams, the wife of Major Frank, who lives in a palatial house with two children, Sara and David, writes a letter to the local employment agency to get replacements. Martha Pinto, a mute woman, and Edgar And Maria apply for these vacancies. Sandra hires her and also lets know that her children's eyes suffer from a condition that could cause them to be damaged by sunlight, hence the curtains are to be drawn at all times. Also she gets migraines by any loud noise, hence everyone must remain quiet, there is no electricity and all work must be done during the daytime, and the entire house is candle-lit. The staff gets busy with their work, and it is then Sarah tells her mom that she has noticed other people in the house that are visible to her only, and she draws the picture of a male, a female (his wife), their son, Vicky, and an elder woman with magical powers. Sandra disbelieves her, but when she starts feeling someone's presence in her house, as well as hearing noises, she decides to investigate. She finds out that the letter she had sent to the employment agency is still lying in the mailbox. She must now find out how Martha, Edgar and Maria came to know of the vacancies, and of the presence of an album with dead people's photos. Watch as events beyond her control unfold, leading her, Sara and David face to face with the other unseen people in this household.

India is plagued with kidnappings of young children from wealthy backgrounds with their abductors demanding huge ransoms or brutally killing their victims. After the retirement of Police Commissioner Hamza Sheikh, DSP Ali Haider Jaffri takes over. Shortly after this, he displays his abilities when he successfully apprehends a gang of bank robbers - albeit by jeopardizing the life of a bank customer. Then the son of the Continental Bank Chairman, Srivastav, is abducted and held for ransom. Shwetambari Nath (Urmila Matondkar) mène une vie aisée dans la cité sainte de Banaras en Inde avec sa mère, Gayetri (Dimple Kapadia) et son père, Mahendra (Raj Babbar). Elle est étudiante à l’université et est maintenant en âge de se marier. Satpal Shukla (Arif Zakaria), inspecteur de police, souhaite l’épouser. Mais Shwetambari tombe amoureuse de Soham (Ashmit Patel), orphelin d’une caste inférieure à la sienne qui vit avec une femme nommée Dadi (Meenal Patel), femme de ménage. Cette différence sociale les empêche de se réunir. Cependant, Shwetambari continue de fréquenter Soham, prétextant apprendre la musique. Elle a confiance en lui qui s’initie à la méditation avec son gourou Babaji (Naseeruddin Shah) et qui est convaincu qu’il n’y a pas de mal à s’aimer même si l’on n’appartient pas à la même caste. Shwetambari présente Soham à ses parents qui ne le trouvent pas du tout à leur goût. Lorsque Shwetambari refuse d’épouser qui que ce soit d’autre, ses parents reviennent sur leur decision et approuvent ses fiançailles avec Soham, particulièrement après avoir appris qu’il n’était pas d’une caste inférieure mais d’une caste inconnue et qu’il n’avait pas de lien filial avec Dadi. Peu de temps avant le mariage, la vie de Shwetambari plonge dans la tourmente lorsque Satpal lui apprend que Soham a été assassiné. Dans son chagrin, elle devient solitaire et soucieuse. Son père demande à un ami d’enfance, Dr. Gopal Bhattacharya (Akash Khurana), psychiatre de Boston aux États-Unis, de la soigner. Le docteur dit qu’il est possible que Shwetambari soit malade car elle parle comme si Soham était encore en vie et prétend rencontrer et parler à un saint homme du nom de Babaji qui est décédé depuis des centaines d’années. Mais Shwetambari sait qui sont les responsables de la mort de Soham et elle decide de quitter Banaras avec ce secret pour aller à l'Ile Maurice où elle gagne une solide reputation en tant que guérisseuse spirituelle. Dix-sept ans plus tard, son père est mourant et elle hésite entre retourner à Banaras pour le voir ou rester loin de tous les problèmes passés. Mais elle décide finalement de retourner dans sa chère cité et de lever le voile sur le meurtre de Soham.

The two brothers Kalicharan & Narshima cause havoc all over the city. The police calls in Karan Singh as the most effective police man to fight against them.His sister was married to a journalist.He encounters a murder of the minister by Kalicharan and decides to print their photos in the newspaper.But before he can do that he is killed along with his wife. Dipa is an eye-witness to this murder. But he soon plans and makes Dipa the key suspect in an attempt-to-murder case of the home minister. Karan Singh in the meanwhile trains Dipa to fight back the goons. She manages to get the files containing the proof of innocence. Kalicharan is arrested and taken to court. Narshima makes a number of attempts to free his brother. A severe struggle ensues and Narshima and Kalicharan get death sentences.
