Balachander starring Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Jayaprada, Geetha and Nakul. The story was written by Sujatha Rangarajan. The film was also simultaneously shot in Telugu as Andamaina Anubhavam. A large part of the film was shot in Singapore.
Synopsis
The film follows lead chandru (Kamal Hassan) who plays a singer and his band on a tour to Singapore. Over there Chandru meets his love interest Sona (Jayaprada), only to find that she is terminally ill. The film ends on a tragic note with the lady's demise.Acteurs

Devu, a local thug whose weapon of choice is a bicycle chain he sports casually around the neck. Devu charges ₹ 30 to slice a finger, ₹ 300 to chop a hand, ₹ 3000 for the leg, and ten times as much to dispose off the whole body. On one of his nightly rounds, Devu is pursued by a cop and seeks refuge at a whorehouse run by a hooker Sarasu, played to perfection by Saritha. Despite her vehement protests, he stays put and leaves only at daybreak, but her persistent cough stays with him. At a theatre, Devu watches an advertisement for Glycodin Cough Syrup and proceeds to buy her a bottle. Devu and Sarasu bond over the cough syrup and philosophize late into the night, exchanging notes on their immoral lifestyles.

Prasanna (Kamal Haasan) is nursed back to health by a classical singer Bhairavi (Srividya) after a bloody street-side fight. The two are slowly drawn to each other and decide to marry in spite of their age difference and a past relationship that Bhairavi is still inextricably tied to. In the meantime, Prasanna's father, Mahendran (Major Sundararajan) embarks on a relationship with the young Ranjani (Jayasudha). We soon find out that Ranjani is Bhairavi's daughter (born to her out of wedlock).
