Vinu in which Mammootty plays the lead role Pallavur Devanarayanan. The music for the film was composed by maestro Raveendran Master and lyrics penned by Gireesh Puthenchery. One of the songs was sung by Mammootty himself.
Synopsis
Pallavoor Devanarayana Pothuval aka Devan (Mammootty) who is a talented drummer. People flock to the festivals just to see him play the drums with utmost devotion. His father opposes his relationship with a girl belonging to a lower caste and forces him to marry a girl of his choice Vasundhara (Sangeetha). Unable to bear his decision she commits suicide. He leads a very glum life with Vasundhara though she loves him and takes good care of him. He gets injured while trying to save his teacher’s daughter from some miscreants and is taken to an Ayurvedic hospital.Acteurs

Viswanathan (Sreenivasan) is a village officer. He wants to make his son Manu (Vineeth Sreenivasan), an engineer. But manu wants to become a singer. Viswanatahan sends him to a coaching centre principled by KC Francis (Thilakan). Manu often tells his mother (Suhasini) to allow him to go and participate in reality shows. But Viswanathan doesn't agree with it. When the exam result come, Manu fails. Viswanathan calls him a cheater and slaps him. Manu leaves his house. Balettan is the story of Athaniparampil Balachandran (Mohanlal) who is known for his service in the society. His father (Nedumudi venu) is a retired postmaster. He lives with his wife Radhika (Devayani) and two children. Circumstances turn him as a debtor and he is arrested in a cheating case but he manages to solve all those problems with his father's pension money. One day a stranger (Riyaz khan) comes to meet Balachandran .He introduces himself as Bhadran and ask his help for marrying her sister. Balachandran gets angry and this leads to a violence in the house and his father asks him to leave the house. On the next day while travelling in a bus his father has a heart attack and is admitted to hospital. Later he calls Balachandran and reveals that he has another family. Balachandran, on hearing this shocking fact is stood shock stricken unable to accept his father's words while his father suffers another cardiac arrest which leads to his death. In his death bed he asks Balachandran to take care of his second family and also request that his mother should never come to know about this. The rest of the story tells how Balachandran manages to solve all the problems.
